  • The new app stinks

    The new app is difficult and a nuisance to use. The reporting of local news and sports is often later than in a publication from Portland. The restrictions on cancellation of a subscription are too severe. I plan on canceling mine when my current subscription is near its end. BEWARE, one must cancel well before your subscription expires.

  • I like to read the e-edition on my iPad…

    …but for the last couple of years I haven’t been able to do that. The app works on my iPhone and lap top but I can’t log in from the iPad. Support has had me change passwords ad nauseam followed by escalation to a senior tech, followed by frustrated indifference on my part as I give up. I’ve gone through this scenario 3-4 times over the past couple of years. I don’t understand why they can’t come up with a solution.

  • Why change the app?

    I find the new app to be very difficult to use. When I opened the newspaper this morning I was presented with an edition from 2 days ago and can’t figure out how to do so. The old app, while not great, was easier to use.
  • It FREEZES!

    I’m not going to even mention the deteriorated R-G…oops, I already did! The app is very frustrating: often when I touch my iPad screen to change pages or enlarge an article, the app goes to an entire article; However, the worst thing is when the entire app freezes on a page and I simply have to sit and wait until it’s ready to move on (this is, in fact what I’m waiting for as I write this)

  • Want the old app back

    The old app was great. Easy to use, you could print the Sudoku, you could easily go back and look at past editions, it was easy to navigate to where you wanted to go, you didn’t have to deal with pop-up ads every time you click on a story, you could listen to an article (in a very robotic voice) when reading is difficult.
    That all changed with this new app! You can’t print the sudoku, it jumps around making it hard to find and read an article you want to read. It forces you to deal with pop-up ads. You can’t go back and look at past editions. in short, it makes reading the newspaper so frustrating and time-consuming it’s not worth it. We’ve had a subscription to the Register Guard for decades, I’m on the verge of canceling it.

    The latest update of the app is unusable. Extremely slow and full of bugs. Ads pop up and just sit there. Scrolling up and down becomes a test of patience as the page seems to freeze as soon as it loads.
  • The new app

    This transformation from the former green colored app is a disaster for me. I can no longer read the paper on my iPad. It won’t stay still and disappears constantly. As we are not locals I will look for another paper
  • Poor device sharing

    Changed apps since gannet bought register guard so each device seems to require a subscription. Unable to get this app to recognize the same app on my iPad. Not user friendly
  • It's just really bad.

    Navigation is crude, and outdated news articles stay for weeks and months after the initial publication.
  • Less than one star would be more appropriate.

    Horrible. Difficult to use. Jumps around and makes it extremely annoying. And pop up ads??? Really??? I already pay for the newspaper which is mostly ads these days and now I have endure pop up ads? Disgraceful. It is not user friendly and may just give up the paper altogether if I can’t find a way around this horrible app.
