3.9.1

September 22, 2022

Updates: • New onboarding experience to ease initial setup. • New JavaScript API for opening in-app settings from a webpage. • New "User Agent ID" text setting which is appended to the end of the browser's UserAgent string to allow you to track individual kiosks from your existing site analytics tools. • Updated logging to use specific-purpose logs that can be filtered by category. • Updated to include JavaScript console logging to app logs. • Updated gesture recognizers to better support trackpads. • QR code scanner now uses a full-screen viewfinder. • QR code scanner now supports rotation. • QR scanner will be closed by inactivity timers. • Navigate to the configured kiosk home page URL from within a web page using “webframepro://home" as the href or calling "window.home()" from a script. • Control screen brightness through Settings. • New option in Full Screen settings, "Disabled (Show Status Bar)", that will allow the iOS Status Bar to remain visible. • Home Indicator will be hidden until user interacts with screen. • Updated styling on in-app settings. • Drag-and-drop can now be toggled on or off (off by default).  Please note that turning on opens up a potential security vulnerability because it allows opening a link in Safari via multitasking. However, some websites require drag-and-drop in order to work properly, so we have added this setting. • Dim Screen Idle Timeout: Sets screen brightness to 0% after a specified timeout and restores brightness upon user interaction. • Screen Saver Idle Timeout: Shows a blank screen after specified timeout. More screen saver options to come. Bug Fixes: • Multiple. NOTE: With this release, we have updated the minimum-supported iOS/iPadOS version to 13.0.

If you site requires third party cookies to function, open iOS Settings, scroll to WebFrame, then enable "Allow Cross-Website Tracking". • When loading WebFrame, the app can be configured to start a new session (default) or resume a previous session • WebFrame now supports links that deep-link into other apps (disabled by default)

Price History of WebFrame Kiosk

Description of WebFrame Kiosk

WebFrame allows you to turn an iOS device into a single-purpose kiosk displaying full-screen web apps, web pages, multimedia, documents, and more. WebFrame features the following capabilities: • Full Screen Browser: WebFrame provides a full-screen browser with no address or navigation bars. This allows you to create a true kiosk experience and keeps users in the web site, web app, document, or multimedia you intended. • Approved Domain List: Limit browsing to approved domains to prevent users from leaving the site or web app you have configured. • Inactivity Timeout: Monitor user activity and reload homepage, dim the screen, and/or load a blank screen if no user activity has taken place for a selected duration. Optionally, you can choose to clear the browser cache on timeout to ensure previous user session data is deleted. • Augmented Reality: Create an infinite showroom with augmented reality experiences. AR models in .USDZ or .Reality format will be loaded into an AR Quick View. • QR and Bar Code Reader: Allow customers to lookup products, allow employees to access and/or login to unlinked pages, or more. Reader returns string to JavaScript to handle as you wish. • QR and Bar Code Reader: Allow customers to lookup products, allow employees to access and/or login to unlinked pages, or more. Reader returns string to JavaScript to handle as you wish. • Smart Navigation Buttons: WebFrame now supports navigation buttons that will automatically show and hide depending on the ability to navigate backward and forward, and home. They can also be configured to dynamically slide offscreen as the page scrolls to minimize their visual impact. Finally, they can be repositioned vertically on the screen to prevent obscuring underlying page content. • User Interaction Controls: Control how users interact with your kiosk and allow or disallow swipe navigation, pull-to-refresh, vertical scroll and horizontal pan gestures, pinch and double-tap zoom gestures, or disable user interaction entirely. • Printer Support: Allow users to print from your kiosk using HTML window.print() capabilities or disable to prevent printing. • Local Configuration: All configuration of WebFrame is handled locally through the iOS Settings app or through in-app settings.

Reviews of WebFrame Kiosk

  • Doesn’t work

Won’t work with actiontiles anymore. It did at one point. It gets to the login page and just blanks out fields when I put my login info in and hit submit.

I reached out to the developer and they said a fix would be put in place, but it seems that never happened. I found a free app that does the same thing as this app and have started using it. Wish I could get my money back for an app that doesn’t work.

    Developer Response

Hello and thank you for reaching out. As we communicated via email, a fix is in progress. Unfortunately, it has not been a straightforward fix as the ActionTiles site is corrupting/overwriting some WebKit global variables and creating a cascading failure as a result. We have a work-around in place but it has required extensive regression testing. We still aim to release an update in early January. If you prefer the free alternative, we recommend requesting a refund through Apple’s official refund process.
  • Perfect for SmugMug Slideshow!!

Exactly what I was looking for to play SmugMug photography slideshows on my iPad. It took me a minute to find the settings, but it works beautifully!!
  • Works great after initial setup

The app must be setup in Settings prior to use. It’s a very powerful app with a lot of options that are set in the app setting in Settings.

    Developer Response

We’re sorry WebFrame didn’t meet your needs. However, WebFrame is not a general purpose browser but rather a managed browser to create tightly-curated experiences. Homepage URL and other browser settings are available in the iOS Settings app. From there, WebFrame can be configured then the device can be placed in Guided Access or Single App Mode to create a specific-purpose kiosk.
