  • Awful

    Gameplay is absolutely awful.
  • Finally! Board game lovers rejoice

There is so much to learn from the game of Power Grid. If you’ve never played before, you’ll either have a blast or a giant headache.

There are a lot of parts to this game and the team at Brettspielwelt was capable of translating all that information onto a tiny screen. Yes, the UI can get cluttered at times but I invite everyone to take some time to find a layout that works for you. The developers were kind enough to give us players the freedom to do what we choose with the information we want while ignoring the stuff we don’t, we should be thankful for that.

If you have played Power Grid before, the mobile-version makes it even easier to play. With a much easier setup, auctions, a building calculator, resource replenishments, and all the rules involved with the power plant stack flawlessly executed in the code, you can focus on your strategy and less on maintaining the game’s state. This makes the gameplay flow effortlessly. For my household, what was a 3-4 hour game has turned into a 30 minute heist to become the most “power”-ful mogul. (Plus that extra time gives us the opportunity to play more iterations and frequently)

  • Stable and good

I bought and downloaded this 2023/12/9. It has been impeccable stable and I recommend it to people like me who think Powergrid could be a fun game but have trouble getting a game together.

The GUI is a little non-standard (comments about this make sense), but I found it intuitive and useful. Trying to fit all of
Powergrid on an iPad screen is a challenge and I appreciate it being addressed.

  • Garbage app

Not user friendly and the app crashes. I wish I could get my money back.
  • _Now_ it’s what it should have been!

The UI takes a bit of getting used to, but it’s almost 100% in English and it’s not crashing either. On top of that the game plays fast and the AIs are an excellent challenge. The variety of maps available with the base purchase is also great.

Strongly recommend for anyone interested in electronic play of one of the world’s great board games.

Hi Mn200, thanks for your feedback. The translations and crashes should have been fixed with today's update. You can find the game rules under the help button in the main menu or alternatively the rules for the board game at https://www.riograndegames.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Power-Grid-Recharged-Rules.pdf Have fun playing.
  • Still broken

After seeing a bunch of 1 star ratings and developer responses that issues and language problems were addressed in October, still broken in November. Download game, open .. Initial screen (asking me to enter my name) is in German (though the “Name” field label is in English). Kind of confusing how something like this would be so difficult to fix, assuming the development was handled well.

  • It works! But…

I’ve been looking forward to a digital port of Power Grid for years, and I was momentarily excited at the news that one had been developed, only to discover that it was rated an average of one star from four reviews. But since the developers had apparently fixed a lot of the initial issues with a patch, I thought I’d take a chance and see how it plays now.

The good news is, the game is actually playable now. Whatever crashing issues and bugs the others experienced have indeed been resolved. And the AI seems to be pretty strong so far.

However, I’m not a fan of the “windows” system they’ve created for all the tables and control panels; the screen gets cluttered easily; sometimes there’s no logic to when certain windows open; and it really would be much easier if a window could be dismissed by a simple “X” in the corner rather having to cram it back into the bottom corner.

There’s only a tutorial to teach you the unnecessarily complicated UI, not for actual gameplay. A proper tutorial would be nice for those new to the game. I was only able to figure it out quickly because I’ve played this board game for years.

Also, are there supposed to be music and sound effects during the game? There’s music in the main menu but deadly silence throughout the game.

So, it works now, and it plays fine, but the interface is rather irritating.

  • Board game is way better

The interface is terrible and you are constant moving and resizing. You’ll want to take the tutorial to understand how it works and even then it’s not great. Also, I had to translate several words because German shows up without an option to change to English. Also, the area where you would play online said it did not have a connection. Oh and it crashes all the time.

Hi Luketylerjohnson, the translations and crashes should have been fixed with today's update. On some maps it can help to scale the game board a little smaller. Previously in the game, in the settings menu select the right button under Game board. The online problem sounds like a connection error. Can you access the page https://m.brettspielwelt.de with your device? Have fun playing.
  • Poor instructions and full of bugs

I’ve never played the board game, but it seems really good. However, this iOS implementation leaves a lot to be desired. It’s hard to understand how the developer decided to release such a buggy game. There’s still untranslated German text in multiple places, the app crashes when trying to access help for some items, there’s a third player when selecting a 2 player game, the instructions seem poorly translated, and the tutorial is seriously limited, to mention a few things. The game has a lot of potential, so I hope the developer does a proper job of fixing these issues. I’ll be happy to increase my 1 star rating once the game is playable.

Hi Ncheemu, thanks for your feedback. The translations and crashes should have been fixed with today's update. The third player (The Trust) in a two-player game complies with the rules. See https://www.riograndegames.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Power-Grid-Recharged-Rules.pdf page 7 Have fun playing.
  • Crashes

Title has crashed twice so far.
Some parts are in English and some in German.
