CHPN Practice Test User Reviews

I agree with many of the reviewers

Many questions offer no context for one to be able to answer correctly. Correct answers are sometimes marked wrong even though in the rationale, they are showed to be the correct answers. However, in the grand scheme of things, the app is only 10 dollars if you choose to pay. I have learned a lot and feel more prepared to take the CHPN. It’s easy to get frustrated when the glitchy questions pop up, but overall, it is a good study guide.

Editing to add that as of 02/20/24, the final score on the exams is not accurate. I will have just a couple wrong answers, and be scored 20% for example.
This makes me doubt the integrity of the questions and rationale given.

Incomplete, wrong answers

Questions are given with no context, correct answers are counted wrong (even though they are the ones shown as correct once submitted). Some are simply incomplete. This would be great if it were written correctly.

Some things are incomplete

When you build a test, some of the questions are incomplete, leaving you with an incorrect answer because you either don’t have the question or don’t have the scenario. There is also at least one question I did where I selected the correct answer, that started with “we will”…and it marked it incorrect, when you ask for the explanation, it is the same phrase, but starts with “we’ll”. It does cause some frustration, but if you can get through that it’s a decent resource!

Useful study tool

I agree with the other reviewer. There were a few questions that were incomplete and/or inaccurate. However, the app functioned well overall and was very useful for exam prep. Use of these practice questions helped me see where I needed to study more. With that, I was able to pass on the first try.

Hospice Nurse

While some of the questions and answers were incomplete, causing the answer to be wrong; I believe this app was very instrumental in me passing the CHPN. Plus it is much cheaper than the other apps out there. So it is a bargain with some deficiencies.

Missing info in many questions

Thankfully I got the free version. Many questions have missing vital information in the question that makes one get the answer wrong. Makes me think the questions came from another source with visual aides, etc. Overall, I was frustrated and felt I was doing more poorly in my studying. Not worth my time. You really should vet the questions better. Also, several times, all four answers were “wrong”. Ridiculous.

Poorly designed

Multiple problems with this app. Some questions had 2 of the same answers for choices. Many were repeated. Many were questions that assumed you had background story to include in your decision. Some even had the question listed as an answer and there were no choices. I do not recommend at all. Same questions can be found online.

I love it!

It’s not perfect but it helps me rethink things. I am an IPU nurse and it reminds me to go slow and assess assess assess!

Helped me pass

Paid for the full version and I did pass the test. But I also found all these questions online at tests.com. The online version was more expensive, but has fewer of the issues outlined below.

Lots of poorly worded questions, or questions that are basically sentence fragments you can’t possibly answer. Bcs I think they were poorly copy-pasted from another source. Several instances where you select the correct answer but it gets marked as incorrect. Or most of the question is missing, so you basically have to guess. I “flagged” all the bad questions, but have since realized there’s no way to review flagged questions anyways

I do like the convenience of practice-testing on the go, as well as the practice reminders. I would do at least 20 questions a day, whenever I had down time. And it tracks your progress, best/worst areas of content, and countdowns to your exam.

I am glad I’m using this app to keep me on track. And I do think it contributed to me passing. But overall, it leaves a lot to be desired as far as content organization and quality. Other resources were far more helpful/closer to what I saw on the actual test.
