Hina

Hina is an application built using the Maramataka phases of the moon. With Te Reo Maori as the default language for each phase, see what Maori have used for generations as a guide for planting, fishing and living. Hina brings an interactive approach to looking at the moon and determining appropriate times for performing many of the basic necessities. Hina was created to be used as a guide with other language names for the phases of the moon. Polynesia in general has deep ties with ancestors who used the phases of the Maramataka to navigate their way through the year and survive based on what they knew as a way of life. Hina is a project that will continue to evolve as a resource to help Maori and those interested see how ancestors used the Moon.
