Almost there
I love the idea behind this. People are always gonna have their phones out at concerts whether we like it or not, and The Black Eyed Peas obviously know this, which is why they came up with this app. Rather than missing out on being “in the moment”, they add something new to recording videos and taking photos at concerts. Unfortunately, the quality of the videos look like they were recorded on a flip phone from 2000 and late, which will be a little embarrassing to share since I have an iPhone X. For this reason, I’m kind of glad they only have the AR for 3 songs during the set list, so I’ll be recording other songs using the regular camera app. Interestingly, you don’t have to be at the concert to use the app. I played the music videos for “Big Love” and “I Gotta Feeling” on a TV in a dark room and they both activated the AR, which is how I tested the quality of the recordings and video. Overall I’m really looking forward to seeing them live and giving it a proper test.
Post concert:
On the night it did crash a few times and I kind of missed the intro because of it, but I did manage to get a photo of it and some more photos and videos of Big Love and I Gotta Feeling. I didn’t update the app in time for the concert but it’s good to know that improvements were made to the quality.
