Description of Notysing

Learn the basics of music in a fun and musical way by singing. You are guided by your digital song coach Noty, who gives you feedback on what you do on your level, from the very first steps and all the way through! TRY FOR FREE - UPGRADE FOR CHEAP The first lessons of Notysing are free, no account needed. To access all lessons, unlock the app for a small fee. Read more about the low pricing on notysing.com. INTERACTIVE LESSONS In Notysing you learn to sing from written music in interactive lessons, and along the way you will pick up knowledge in note names, scales, keys, rhythm, music theory and much more. As with language, you learn music best by imitating, testing and reflecting, by combining theory and practice. It might sound like magic, but with Notysing, anyone that can sing a note can learn to sing from music notation! “Suddenly sheet music transforms into music, and you can hear what’s written”. It is much like reading and writing, and by doing the exercises you develop your musicality – singing, rhythm and intonation. DEVELOPED BY EDUCATORS AND RESEARCHERS Notysing is developed by music teachers and researchers in an ongoing research project involving The Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Doremir Music Research. The project examines how Doremir’s groundbreaking technology of music interpretation can be used for learning musical literacy. The app has been tested in music education of junior high and high school, but can of course be used by anyone who can read, regardless of age or music knowledge. Music students, choir singers and band members who wants to improve their music learning can benefit from Notysing! PEDAGOGICAL MODEL The pedagogical model, created together with the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, starts with note names ("C D E"), and proceeds to use scale degree numbers ("1 2 3"). This was worked out to be the easiest way to understand scales without having to learn specific new vocabulary, and instead focus on the singing. The app then teaches key signatures and rhythm, enabling the user to sing real songs from notation! Upcoming lessons will move on to teach solfège ("Do Re Mi"), but with scale degree numbers being very intuitive, the app can already be used in parallel to solfège based learning. TOOLS FOR TEACHERS Notysing performs best as a complement to teacher-led music education. With Notysing, your students can meet the goals of the curriculum regarding music literacy, music notation and the understanding of how music can be represented and organized. Each student has their own development path so you can give relevant feedback and get a basis for grading. Music teachers, choir and band leaders can use Notysing with your students and track their progress through the Notysing Dashboard.

Reviews of Notysing

Leave a Review Notysing
  • Notes work great but rhythm is broken.

I can’t for my life pass the pulse exercises where you should hit the beat on the drum. I get the impression something is wrong with how the app analyses the input. Otherwise it is great for note singing.
  • Potential

This app has a lot of potential in the General music room. It’s a great practice and review app. With a few additions it can be a great supplemental to encourage music literacy.
  • Possibilities Worth Exploring

As an elementary music educator I have enjoyed working with this app. I find the skills nicely sequenced for my classroom. I agree with a previous review that wolfs would be a helpful option and I’m excited that the developer is adding that option.
