Reviews of RadBeacon E

  • App is great

Much more configurable items than the older app, Radbeacon, eg, even channels. Crashed sometimes
  • Unstable iBeacon Configuration

I’ve been using this app to configure Radius Chip beacons with the iBeacon protocol. The app makes it extremely difficult to set the measured power of the beacon. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t. The app does not make it clear to the user when the measured power is properly configured on the beacon. This bug is a concern due to the fact that iOS uses the measured power to properly calculate distance to the beacon.

The only way I was able to verify when the measured power was applied successfully was to use a custom built app using Apple’s CoreLocation to range the beacon. Once the accuracy(distance) averaged to 1m at the RSSI I set in the RadBeacon app, I knew it was successful.
