I enjoy this app.

I have used software to measure groups back when it was only available on a desktop computer. I get a kick out of offering feedback and it incorporated into updates. Previous to Ballistic X I was using On Target.

Major Features Locked

Most of the major features are locked behind a per year fee. After buying the app, I don’t expect to pay for the features that should have been included in the beginning. I would not have purchased the app had I known this. There are plenty of free apps that do what this one wants you to pay twice for. I will be requesting a refund.

Reach out and we will make this right! Apologies for any inconvenience! The basic App has grown from day one without increasing in cost. The Advanced Toolkit is our ever growing segment that is a yearly cost.

Great Tool!

Makes range day easier to check accuracy and keep you focused on better shooting technique. Great support is only a few clicks away if needed. Would definitely recommend!

Not worth the money

For the price I’d expect at least some automation. But no, keep your phone straight, don’t forget your 1 inch reference, pick that reference ends, pick your impact points, all manually. It shouldn’t be that hard to detect concentric circles or squares and correct image automatically. Target sizes are standard, so figuring out scale once target position is established and corrected also shouldn’t be hard.

Automation is something we’ve considered but the reality is that the precision world is often stacking multiple rounds on top of one another. This restricts the ability to accurately pinpoint impacts. What we’ve decided is that we are going to automate some other portions of the sequence and leave marking impacts to manual!

Developers didn’t listen

The previous update took away the return feature that allows you to use the overlay data from the previous target with only having to change select data rather than starting all over and entering everything all over again. Y’all made an update and still didn’t put this feature back in. This app is useless and a hassle. I’ve wasted my money. This app is no better than the FREE Frankford Arsenal app.

Just buy it 👍

Works great. Definitely a worthwhile purchase if you shoot a lot. FYI, all the negative reviews are from when it wasn’t supported. But I can confirm it works on iOS 16.

Update removed a feature

The app was great until the update removed the return feature. I guess that’s what you’d call it. When entering a group and entering the data for the overlay there was a return arrow that would start the next group with the same info and then you could change only the data you needed to such as a powder charge or seating depth. Now after every group you have to re-enter the data all over again. Taking this feature away made it more of a hassle to use.

We will have this sorted on next update! Thank you for pointing this out; we missed it.

Great for precision data gathering

I use the subscription version of ballisticx to gather precision/dispersion data by way of mean radius for all of my ammo/barrel combos.

One feature I’d love see (unless I’m just not finding it and it already exists) is the ability to combine e.g. multiple groups on a single target into a single logical group such that one can take the mean radius on that.

No longer greatness (see update)

It used to be 5 stars when it was supported. Now, on iOS 12, it won’t even start. On iOS 15, it asks for a login. The description here says it has a “not now” option for the login; it doesn’t. If it’s there, it’s layers into some login path. Developer’s website would not load, so no longer supported apparently.

UPDATE March 18, 2024: With the release of version 2.0.0, I’ll bump it back to 5 stars. I can continue on without signing in now. I think the interface is a little cleaner and more intuitive.

It doesn’t resolve my issues with iOS 12, but that could be due to an older phone’s capabilities. Still wish it would work though, even with the old version.
