Mezzanine Theater Diary User Reviews

Suits my needs well

I track books on Goodreads, movies on Letterboxd, and sporting events on Sports Passport. I was missing one other hobby: Broadway shows. Mezzanine has the diary tracking feature I was looking for; it isn’t perfect, missing a place to add photos from the event and I couldn’t get the program thing to work, but there’s space for ratings, reviews, and even ticketing. Gotta see if there’s a friend feature; if not, that would be a must. But I am an instant fan—I’d even be willing to support the project financially. Great work!

Many thanks Miguel! I think we are on the same page when it comes to future features - photos are definitely on the to-do list. Did you know you can find and follow friends already? Check out the ‘Discover’ tab and the search field at the top. More planned for the social aspect of the app also.

Just what ever theatre goer needs

For years I have been looking to find a good way to record all my theatre trips and make notes about the show and experience. Eg thoughts on show and the seat etc in the theatre.

This app is amazing. Has everything you need to remember every theatre trip at your fingertips will done.

A Theatre Goer Must-have!

This is such an easy way to keep track of shows I’ve seen, and not just on Broadway or in the West End! It’s super easy to add custom shows, so even that black box in Atlanta or second National Tour in Colorado can get a diary entry. Perfect for jotting down notes on shows, recording seat location (which is so helpful when booking future shows) and rating what you see! Also a huge fan of the map feature to see all of the places I’ve seen shows and a handy graph to see how this year stacks up against others. Warning: this app is addictive, in the best way, so once you start adding shows you’ll want to go back and record everything you’ve seen!

Works as Advertised and More!

Really great app! I heard about it in the Musicals with Cheese podcast years ago (definitely recommend that too) and have been using it ever since. I love all of the little features such as reviews, statistics of how many theatres you've been to and shows per year, and even more.

One small suggestion I'd make is that now since profiles are public, maybe user bios could be a thing? Probably in development but still should be said. Keep up the great work!

It is neat!

Love it. Two suggestions, most of my Broadway shows are tracked in theatres visited, but most of my West End are not shown in theatres visited. And would love a easy export data.

A Genius Idea Still in its Infancy

I LOVE THIS APP! I however wish that a few features were to be added.

1) A better search bar, and a better way to find your friends.

2) The option to add shows from Community and School theatre. If you’re like me, a broke high schooler, and you can’t go see a lot of professional theatre, you watch community theatre. I would love to see a section in the discover page dedicated to non-professional theatre.

3) This may be going beyond what the app was designed for, but a way to log your own roles for shows you’ve performed.

These are just things I’d love to see. That being said, it’s an amazing app, and I can’t wait to keep using it!

Quite useful

It’s a useful way of recording theatregoing, but with only very limited information. It only has records for a tiny number of London shows, which is a bit annoying, but otherwise I quite like it’s simplicity.

One annoying thing that could be fixed easily is the way it shows today’s bookings in the diary. As soon as a day begins, any show you’re seeing moves to the past, rather than being ‘upcoming’. Since most shows are in the evening, it would be better to change this at the end of the day.

Thanks for your feedback. I’d love to pick your brain some more - would you consider contacting me at ben@theaterdiary.com? I’d especially be interested in which kind of productions you would like to see added to the database. I have also made an update to the next version of the app to address the ‘Upcoming’ issue you found. The current version behaves in the way you describe when there is no performance time set. Once the update is released, the app will assume an evening performance time for purposes of sorting these diary entries.

I am obsessed

When I moved away from home a few years ago, I made the mistake of throwing out playbills and ticket stubs (in an attempt to declutter) and it’s something I’ve regretted since!! Then I found mezzanine and I have had some fun filling in my diary with shows, reviews and even pictures of shows that I’ve seen. I’ve searched through photos and past calendars to make sure I’m putting in everything ha. I look forward to seeing what more this app will do. I like that it doesn’t feel identical to Fb, instagram or other social media apps, I hope it stays that way. This feels different!

i love it here

Every theater-goer needs this app!!

I've been using this app since its beta stages and love to see how much the app continues to grow and develops new features. It's one of those apps that will never be 100% complete and I'm excited to see what new features will come with time.

Thank you, I’m excited to share them too!
