  • Works really well but...

This app works really well! If there was any suggestions I’d make it would be to allow ppl to add a photo as the cover and not just a title. It would also be nice if we could rename the title after we’ve named it. Another thing is a variety of voices maybe. Other than that this app does a great job of actually reading the text off of pictures. Really great app!

  • Incredible so far!

I was using Speechify before I found this app and I thought it was great, even though it had some problems. Many of those problems, that I thought were minor annoyances at the time, actually made it so that I couldn’t justify buying a premium subscription. I haven’t had any of those problems here.

This app can be used in split screen, can play in the background while I take notes in a different app, works incredibly well with pdfs, even big ones (although gets easily thrown off by tables and graphs), and that has made it everything I couldn’t rely on Speechify for.

That being said, I do have a suggestion. The developers could provide more options for speed, because it seems that there is a big market for that, and I’m also starting to feel like 2x is still too slow.

  • It could be better

I would give it 5 stars, but my website was black and the text was white. The problem is with the words being white the bright yellow marker made it impossible for me to read. I also have another problem. It’s either too fast or too slow. The voices aren’t able to pronounce everything correctly. It throws me off if I’m just listening(typically when I’m cooking or cleaning). This app also says almost everything that’s in the text such as certain punctuations. I would be listening and hear,”The dog ran outside comma but ran back in because ...”

  • Voices need a bit of tweaking

So for the most part, I love this app. I spent a long time at work doing very boring monotonous task, and this app allows me to listen to online literature anytime I want. It has a simple problem however. This app cannot handle ellipsis, and it sometimes cannot handle some words. There is one story I was listening to where This app could not pronounce the word “lunatic”. For some reason it would treat it as a bunch of symbols and characters. What is strange is that only the Fred voice can handle these things, but Fred sounds terrible. I would like the option to be able to purchase some better high-quality voices.

On the upside I love that this is a one time purchase, and it handles, for the most part, webpages rather well. Trying to find a word to start on can be a bit finicky at times, but all and all this is a rather good app. I would recommend it over the others.

  • Come on seriously 😐

Copy an paste 🤦🏼‍♂️is this not year 2020 I should not 👂 hear the audio voice over text read out semicolon, dots, and punctuations.. come on developers ( create, find the problem an become the solution) in the year 2020 my finger should touch on any text online, email, or book and my second touch should select “read” and at a comfortable speech rate. I should hear 👂 ONLY the text. semicolon, dots, and punctuations should impact how it read; not being READ! I really don’t understand how this technology is still in the dark ages 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Disappointed

If I could do it I would give this app negative stars. I have never been so disappointed in my life. Biggest waste of money. Buying the pro version is a scam. I thought the pro version was supposed to have more features. I can’t get a pdf to open. It may work ok on photos. But forget it if you want pdf. They shouldn’t include pdf in their meta data. Absolutely don’t waste your money if you want to read digital pages. The only added feature with the pro version is you get more readings. Just do the demo from that you will realize this app is a waste of drive space on your phone.

  • Such a great app!

If you struggle with reading and you are in college taking a course that has your face stuck in a book this app can really help work in your favor! it’s not perfect but it comes close. even if you don’t know if you like the app it gives you a free trial no pay no credit card info nothing, you try it you like it you keep it and if not then delete but it’s a great tool if you have chapters and chapters to get through in a short time.

  • Good Application

This is a really good app that reads words allowed. I’m using the application to read PDF books. It is working very well. It does a good job of reading books that may have two columns on one page with tables, charts and graphs. It does a good job of reading the left column of words first and then the right column of words. It will read the charts and graphs also, so if you don’t want that read, all you have to do is press on the next section you want read. Its a life saver. Also, it works in multi task mode, so you can have PDF reader pulled up, highlighting within your PDF file and making notes while the app is reading to you (e.g. left side of screen has the voice app reading and the right side has the actual PDF book open) One other application I tried would not allow this, which was odd. For only about $8, I say this application is a bargain. I’ve already used the application to read hours of text to me. It is definitely saving me some eye strain. Word pronunciation is pretty decent, but I would follow along as the text reads to you, just Incase the reader pronounces some words awkwardly. Overall, a really good application.

  • Useful but with a ton of ads

This is a simple read aloud AP. The main thing I don’t like about it is the Advertisements which turn on every two or five minutes of reading. The Ap will not allow you to continue using the Ap unless you watch the entire advertisement. Some of these advertisements can be lengthy. If you shut down the Ap when it prompts you to watch an advertisement to continue then the Ap will prompt you to watch the advertisement to continue. It doesn’t automatically play advertisements. You have to select play advertisement to continue the read aloud function of the Ap.

The other thing I don’t like about the Ap is the “begin reading here” function. The Ap will begin reading from the place you point but the chances of getting the first sentence correct is not 100 percent. The Ap will read a sentence: “Jack went up the hill,” as “J a c k went up the hill”.

    Developer Response

Ads are the only way that this app can be free, but ok, I'll decrease their number.
  • This is for all people

Hi if you’re looking for an application that can read to you. This is the one I have dyslexia which is a reading disability this application allows me to take a picture of whatever I would like to read, and it would read it to me. No longer will I have to ask someone can read this for me no longer the embarrassment of going to a restaurant and not knowing what the menu will say. This application is so user-friendlyIt’s ridiculous. From the beginning to the end I have modified this application to work for me as a police officer. As a student in school. When I’m going out with my friends or my significant love ones. This application will change your life it would actually make you more independent than you usually are no more asking people for help get this application and change your life today.
