Description of Pinochle Classic

Improve your skills and become a Pinochle pro! Play single or double deck games with three different difficulty levels so you can work your way up to playing like a pro. Pinochle Classic has many settings so you can configure the game to play with whichever rule variations you prefer including: single/double deck, scoring in multiples of ten, game winning score, minimum bid, passing cards count, hints, undo button, and adjustable game play speeds for slow, standard, or fast play. If you are new to the game, Pinochle Classic has an interactive tutorial to teach you how to play by guiding you through a single round of a game. An analyze button can be turned on to help you evaluate your hand and pick a smart bid by simulating thousands of games and showing you likely round score outcomes. A hint button can be turned on to help you see what card the computer Pro player would play in your situation. Extensive statistics are kept for wins/losses, average contract, average meld, and average counters and success rate in making your bid. All cards are dealt randomly to all players, so the difference between the Easy, Standard, and Pro computer players is in how well they remember what cards have been played and how they choose to play the cards they are dealt.

  • The better you get, the worse the cards are that are dealt to you.

I love a good challenge, however, I have been playing this game on and off for years and I have noticed that the better I get at playing and beating the pro level the worse my bidding hands have become. I have played several games in a row with absolutely no hands to bid on. The opposing "players" always have melds that are above 30 points every time.
I know this game is based on skill as much as the cards dealt but being beat 10 games in a row with scores 298 (the pro generated team) - just barely making it to 100 points (my team) 10 games in a row and not even being able to bid and name Trump is getting quite boring.
It's like watching paint dry. Time to move on to a new app

  • Maybe I just need support

I downloaded the game and completed the tutorial. Then I played the first round of an easy game. When I got to the end of the first round, I could see the score box and round 1 box in the top left and the “easy” setting to the left of that box. I could see the four player names. Then I could see a down menu arrow in the top right. Nothing happened after the end of the first round. I finally selected the down arrow. I went to start an easy game. My phone told me I had a game in progress. I canceled and waited for my “in progress” game to continue to a round two. It never did. I reset and played another easy game. Again, round one ended and nothing happened. I began a standard game. Yet again, round 1 ended and nothing else happened. What am I missing to be able to continue on to finish a game?

  • It’s okay

I’ve been playing pinochle for over 40 years. This game is fun to play but general rules are not followed. In tha game my partner will call hearts or clubs and keep a pinochle. If they call trump they will pass trump back to me for kings or queens around. Makes no sense. You would think the developers could correct this. I’ve seen other reviews complaining of the same thing. If you’re going to create a program for a card game you should know the strategies.
June 5, 2024 Update. Apparently the developers don’t read reviews as the above issues haven’t been addressed.
