Pretty good app!
I love this app. It’s really fun playing around with all the different lenses and effects. There’s a ton of customization in this app and it’s nice you get more than like 5 things if you don’t pay for their membership, most other apps barely give you anything and lock the good stuff behind a paywall. This app doesn’t do that and that’s good. The only sort of issue i have with this app is the fact that the camera customization/app icon customization is locked behind their membership. It would be nice if i could change the icon without paying.

Fun, however…
Long time classic user here. Bought A LOT of your Pak’s, you let me import all of them as an early adopter, thanks for that. However, I would like to be able to use my own presets. However I cannot add presets with my classic lens/films because it is behind a pay wall, even though I own so many of them, there is no quick way to be able to select them at all.

Disappointingly bad
Not only is this app all kinds of ridiculous in its design decisions, it isn’t even as functional or as intuitive as the classic version of the app, upon which I have spent far more money than is sensible. As if to add insult to injury, should I wish to retain any of those previous purchases for use in this version, I have to pay a subscription fee. Ugh. I’m so tired of things being constantly dressed up and downgraded for more money. Lost a lot of respect for this brand thanks to this price gouging profit quest.

Lost all my old presets
To be honest, I liked the old version better. It was fun to be able to swipe to change lenses, film, flashes. It was a great digital simulation of a very analog system.
The new version certainly has a lot of great features. I can’t say that I’ve used it as much as I use the old one, which I think was just more fun.
My biggest concern is that I had hundreds of presets that I had purchased, and I currently have no clue how to restore them. I’m also curious as to whether it’s possible to revert to the old version. Please advise.

Going back to Classic
Incredibly counterintuitive UI. Figuring out how to create new presets is unnecessarily sadistic. Get ready to force quit the app half the time you try to assign a preset and it… just won’t. Menus and settings are scattered at random without any thought of consolidating. Yet when it works the filters are solid and my favorite to work with on an iPhone, just like the original. It’s a shame the app itself is too convoluted to be user friendly. Oh yeah, I can’t even change the app icon to the black camera. It just goes back to the H icon. Seriously???
UPDATE: After testing the app out on a hike today, it’s safe to say this app is a disaster. I still have 17 photos “waiting to develop” which is a horrible gimmick if you actually want to see if your picture was decent. I have no idea how I toggled the feature on and off. The whole “shake to develop” feature is tacky and time consuming. Also, just like it’s classic cousin, it focuses on whatever it feels like, so use the basic camera app if you really want something to look sharp. In fact, that’s what I’d recommend doing: take pictures with the regular camera app and add the filters later in Classic. The only thing Hipstamatic cameras are good for is multi-exposure shots.

Paid 4 App + Almost All Hipstapaks Now U Want a Paid Subscription?!
I paid for this app for unlimited use before they switched to the subscription model. I also paid for every Hipstapak that was ever released minus a few that I didn’t want. Now I need to pay for a subscription every month or year on top of that if I want to use all of the features again?! I spent so much money on this app already and I feel like I’m being ripped off being asked to pay even more after buying the app outright when it was offered. If an app is bought for unlimited use then it should be honored even if the app switches to the stupid subscription model. I should be able to go to Restore Purchases and be able to use all of the features, but no they want more money. Well it’s not going to happen. I will not pay for any subscriptions. I’m going to start a petition for users who bought apps for unlimited use and are now being asked to pay for a subscription to continue to use all the features of an app when we shouldn’t have to because we already paid for the app. I hope at least my favorite photo app Hipstamatic will at least consider honoring the paid app users by letting us click on Restore Purchases to continue using all the features of the app and not just the Hipstapaks we paid for. I gave this app five stars since I started using it, I would like to change it back to five stars when this is corrected.

Scam - Intentionally misleading
This app used use to (many years ago) where you had lenses, paid for ones you wanted. Then this comes up but it’s NOT the same app despite using the same name.
As a professional photographer for many many years, this app is trash and chaos when it comes to editing. They have no concept of how film or cameras work, nor even the basics of photography. Its just a lie and cheap ploy. Any photo editing app is infinitely better (it is truly a shock how bad the app is, and that’s when it does not glitch and fail completely).
Don’t waste your time and save your money. Don’t fall for this cheap, poorly done scam. No way to get your money back after you realize it’s not the same app (though made by and made to look like the old one that already took money).
Just save yourself the trouble and edit using any other app, because (and I’m not exaggerating) any other photo editing app is infinitely better and actually understands how camera, “film”, “flash” and curves work.

Confusing
Title says it all in how I feel about this app. I have used the original Hipstamatic for many years (on and off). I totally understood how the app worked and definitely cranked out some amazing shots. This new app - i don’t get it. I don’t get these presets or how to switch out lenses and films. I’m not even sure if I’m still on a free trial and can I get out of it. In short I’d rather stick to the old app. I grew up with SLRs and later a DSLR - totally understanding concepts of photography. I’m not criticizing this app - I just don’t get it! I see others love it

Thanks!
It’s been fun using the app again.
Bought lenses and all sorts of stuff now gone.
I’ve supported this app from the very beginning. Spent a good deal of money on an app for lenses and film that was not real, but wanted to support the concept. They took all my lenses away and now want me to rent them. Only about 10 combos are worth it. The rest look absurd, cheap, dated and silly.
It could be an amazing app. Unfortunately, it’s not. It’s a scam. And the app is so buggy it does not work right at all. Definitely got cheated when I gave them the benefit of the doubt and spent more money to have what I already paid for. Guess that’s on me. The scam though… that’s them. There are much better apps for editing than this. And your camera lets you shoot from the hip. You don’t need a silly badge to tell you that.
