Description of Whispers of a Machine

"A gamers pixel point-and-click dream" -The Daily Fandom "one of the most substantial point-and-click adventures we've played in a while" -Newsweek "nostalgic, emotional, and beautiful" -Noisy Pixel ----- Whispers of a Machine is a Sci-Fi Nordic Noir that tells the story of Vera, a cybernetically augmented special agent tasked with investigating a string of murders. These brutal killings obscure a sinister truth, as Vera soon finds ties to a group of fanatics committed to creating an AI superintelligence — a pursuit outlawed for nearly a century. Complicating things, a great loss from Vera's past comes back to haunt her, making her question her own sanity and everything she stands for. As an agent of the Central Bureau, Vera is equipped with an advanced nano-substance called Blue. This rare and sought-after technology allows her to develop superhuman abilities adapted to her psychological mindset. Choose your playstyle and utilize these augmentations to investigate, gather information, and solve puzzles with multiple solutions. Will Vera’s unique blend of skills and intuition be enough to solve the case, or will she discover that things are more ambiguous than they seemed? In this emotionally gripping story with existential twists and multiple endings, Vera's actions will have monumental consequences not only for herself, but for all of humanity... - INVESTIGATION, AUGMENTED: Will Vera approach situations with a more empathetic, analytical, or assertive style? Your choices will impact her augmentations and subsequent puzzle solutions. - A POST-AI FUTURISTIC DYSTOPIA: Immerse yourself in a realized world of beautifully hand-drawn pixel art design and gorgeous settings influenced by the Nordics. - POINT-AND-CLICK INNOVATION: A groundbreaking entry to the point-and-click adventure game genre by the experienced developers of Kathy Rain and The Samaritan Paradox. - PROFESSIONALLY VOICED: 4,000+ lines of dialogue with full English voice acting, directed by Wadjet Eye Games' Dave Gilbert. ** Images featured above have been taken on devices that support 16:9 resolution. Reviews of Whispers of a Machine

  • Predictable, short,and crashy.

Total game took 6 hours or so—add an hour if you include all the crashes and restarts (M1 iPad Pro). The story is predictable and bland. The puzzles were generally pretty obvious even to this point-and-click novice—which I suppose could also mean they are well designed, but I never felt especially clever in solving them. Without the crashes, I suppose it would bump it up to three stars. The world-building seems interesting, but there are only gestures in the direction of that interesting world, and I don’t get the sense there’s much depth to its development beyond those gestures… I dunno—if you like your games “just okay” I suppose you could do worse. It passes the time.
  • Seems to have a crashing bug

Game is good but both the iPad and Mac version have a habit of crashing and loosing progress. I actual bought the iPad version because I thought it would be more stable I was wrong. But it was only a couple of bucks and the game is good from what I can tell so I’m not going to try to get a refund. My guess is if you can play this on windows that will most likely not result in as many crashes.
  • Keeps Crashing (iPad Mini 6th Gen)

    This game really is PHENOMENAL!

Only reason for my 4 ⭐️

My iPad mini 6th Gen (2021 Model) is up to date with iPad OS 16.5 This game is constantly crashing, it’s a spontaneous bug - I can’t track it, so I can replicate it, but here is what I have identified:

    • Crashes as soon as I continue a saved game or start new game

    • Crashes if I play (a saved game or new game) within 10 minutes

    • Crashes if I play (a saved game or new game) within 2 minutes

    • Crashes if I play (a saved game or new game) an hour later or so

    • During first crime scene, after you scan the victim with smart mode, as soon as you tap the scan tool with the victim’s bio (the scan tool called Karl) the game will crash

A very sporadic bug. I know it’s 2023 and this game was released awhile ago, but PLEASE FIX. This issue ruins what I would describe an immersive *experience* of being a future detective.

    APPLES -> VISION PRO:
I actually want to play this game on my vision pro when it buy it, the Vision Pro has eye tracking (i use my eyes to make selections) and finger pinching gestures (my forefinger and thumb touch each other) and this is how we interact with apps - this game will be right at home.

    HERE ARE MY TROUBLESHOOTING ATTEMPTS:

    - Rebooted my iPad
    - Closed out the game, then relaunched game
    - Uninstalled game & Reinstalled the game
    - Powered down iPad and turned back on iPad
