Feature request
- The ability to share and view other people’s playlists within the app
- Discover new movies and shows via genre
- possibility to create shortcuts to open/watch movies in other services other then ones provided within the app
Keep Up the great work, looking forward to future features and updates to come!
Has gotten better
I have minor complaint. The streaming services shouldn’t be nestled in a watch category. If a movie or TV show is on Netflix, then just put a small Netflix logo up. If the show is streaming on multiple platform, then put their logos right next to the title.
Response from developer
Glad you like it. Right now our full focus is to make this the best movie app out there. We have a long list ahead of us. But we know we will get there. Once that’s done then we might figure out a way to work in TV. Until then we will still discuss some TV stuff here and there on the blog. 👍
Still unsure of the rationale for the 3.0 update
The 3.0 update removed searching movies chronologically (seriously, why is the Discover page filled with completely random orderings across completely different times?). You can view them chronologically in your saved list but so can dozens of other films that track such lists (and offer far more features and customization by comparison).
I liked this app because it filled a useful, straightforward niche and did so beautifully without bloat. Notifications were perfect. I use different apps for tracking movies/shows, but this new kernel app seems to try to mimic some of the features of other apps but does so less well while removing what the made app great in the first place.
I really wanted to like the update, and perhaps I will if you re-add some of the functionality and simplicity of the older version of kernel. But after 7 months of waiting it doesn’t seem like that on the roadmap for the app moving forward for whatever reason. In an overcrowded movie/show market they’ve eliminated what made them stand out.
