Description of Focus Bible

This app provides the Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible with official notes and also quick access to the Latin Vulgate for each verse. The Latin Vulgate is a translation from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts by Saint Jerome (345–420). The Council of Trent in 1546 declared that the Latin Vulgate must be "held as authentic; and that no one is to dare, or presume to reject it under any pretext whatever." In 1943, Pope Pius XII stated that the Latin Vulgate is “free from any error whatsoever in matters of faith and morals.” The Douay–Rheims Bible is a faithful English translation of the Latin Vulgate that has been used since 1582.

Reviews of Focus Bible

  • Misspelling

In Ecclesiastes chapter 4 verse 4, the word neighbor is spelled neighhor.
  • Please add a back button when on the Verse View

The best Douay Rheims bible app out there so far. I’ve tried them all. The only thing that annoys me about the app is that once you click on a specific verse, you cannot go back to viewing the whole chapter easily. You have to go all the way back to the menu and go to the book and chapter again. A simple back button on the Focus Verse screen would make this app go from good to great.
  • Simple & Straightforward

This is exactly what I was looking for - a real catholic bible!
