Description of MyPacer

My Pacer is an NIH sponsored research study conducted through the University of Pittsburgh that seeks to better understand myositis from your perspectives and daily experiences. Our goal is to reach a broader range of myositis patients across the country through telemedicine. Using technology, we hope to overcome geographic barriers and ultimately allow patients to participate in clinical studies from the convenience of their home. This mobile application uses a mix of questionnaires and surveys, simple tests, as well as a Fitbit Activity to track your myositis symptoms and experiences. Study doctor will evaluate patients using secure telemedicine (audio-video chat). We believe that the My Pacer study will accelerate myositis research and lead to better clinical trials in myositis. We hope the findings from this study will help myositis patients in the future. Adult Patients living in US with a diagnosis of polymyositis, dermatomyositis and necrotizing myopathy can join the study. Study participation can be done from your home or anywhere else, using the My Pacer study app or website. Currently, the study is only available in English. It is an observational study. No clinic visits or experimental drugs are required. All procedures in this study have been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Pittsburgh. Your coded data is secured in a University of Pittsburgh’s database.
