Description of Civic Champs
Civic Champs helps nonprofits and volunteers seamlessly track and record volunteer and mentoring hours. Our app provides multiple ways for volunteers and mentors to track their hours using Civic champs.
The app uses location and notifications to alert you when you arrive at an event. You can track and submit your hours with just a couple of taps on your screen. You can also track hours that are not associated with a specific location by using the Log Other Hours tool.
Why do nonprofit organizations track volunteer hours?
Tracking volunteer hours is essential to nonprofit organizations because it allows them to raise more funding and report back to funders about making an impact. Volunteer hours are used as an in-kind match for grants, and nonprofits love to recognize the gift of time that volunteers provide. Tracking hours allows the celebration of milestones and more.
Today, many nonprofit organizations depend on pen and paper tracking. That requires manual entry into spreadsheets or databases - taking up precious hours of transcribing and rifling through paper sign-in sheets.
How does Civic Champs work?
Civic Champs’ goal is to help nonprofits with an easy to use platform made up of a mobile app and web tools to make volunteer hour tracking simple, seamless, and accurate. The app uses the phone's location to detect when a volunteer has arrived at an event. The volunteer receives a notification asking if they are there to volunteer, and in a few taps, their hours tracked seamlessly.
If there is no event near the volunteer or forgot their phone at home, volunteers can also enter hours they have previously volunteered through the Log Other Hours feature. Additionally, nonprofits administrators can turn on the Kiosk mode for users to check-in and out on their own, or they can use their in-app admin tools to check-in or out any volunteer with just a few taps.
