  • Lovely MIDI modulation source

A nicely implemented means of outputting some pretty exciting MIDI modulation variations.

It can take a second to parse the provided guide for some of the more in-depth functionality, but overall if you know how to program a simple LFO or EG and set up MIDI routing/destinations the app is a breeze - just click around! The arp’s fun to play around with as well. Excited to implement into my workflows!

  • Made by the dev, for the dev.

Nope. This app is a prime example of what happens when someone makes an app for their own personal use, and then as an afterthought, decides to sell it on the app store with zero user friendliness.

If anyone is even looking at this, it's probably because you can't find a midi controller that can do exactly what you need, and you're desperate. Just search the store for "midi script". There's an app that lets you write custom code to create any imaginable midi controller.

Thanks for the feedback. MIDI Mod took more than 2 years from initial development to release. For UI design, I imagined having a hardware equivalent, with knobs, sliders, and switches for most functions. I thought other people would be familiar with this sort of design. Along the way, I’ve added new features and UI goodies as a result of user feedback. Its primary purpose is to enhance the modulation capabilities of other devices (hardware and software). It is not meant to be a general all-purpose customizable MIDI controller. There are plenty of apps for that. Sorry if MIDI Mod wasn’t the right tool for the job.
  • Different, not in a good way

I can't get past the interface. The app needs a proper interface. I could not work with an interface like that. There are too many things to explain. Interfaces should be intuitive, easy to use, easy to make changes, easy to see the current set up, minimal number of taps to make a change. I should not have to watch scrolling text to know a value. Standard ways to bring up choices is a good idea so the user knows quickly how to make a change. This is especially true with technical apps. Someone messing with midi doesn't want to use an app with an interface that does things in a completely different way. It's just too confusing for nothing.

Thanks for your feedback. MIDI Mod is a deep, complex app that greatly expands the modulation capabilities of whatever you’re using it with. The device mappings are data driven and have been open sourced. For the most part they are direct translations of the MIDI implementations documented by the manufacturer. Sometimes parameter names are very long, and there is a limited amount of space to work with. Scrolling text was used for that reason. I’m open to suggestions on how to improve the user experience. The in app documentation should explain everything and I have posted several demonstration videos on YT. Sorry to hear that the you don’t get on with the interface. Again, thanks for the feedback.
  • Want More LFO’S?

Then you absolutely must get this app. Have no idea what the other guy is taking about. User error I imagine. Interface is great. Dev listens to feedback. If I could give it 10 stars I would!
