The core gameplay is fun and minimal. It’s great!
The dev consistently listened to all of my feedback and added or adjusted features in each update. All my problems have been fixed.
—1.1.2 REVIEW (OUTDATED)—
I really like the addition of the scoring system, but it would be nice if there was a way to see our best score.
Otherwise I’ve noticed that I don’t really care about my score because I don’t know how it compares with my previous attempts.
The top score could be displayed on the starting screen before beginning a game and/or there could be a button on the starting screen to access a high-score list.
Either addition or both would be great.
—1.1.0 REVIEW (OUTDATED)—
Wow, another stellar update. The dev has addressed all of my issues with this game over the last few patches (making all upgrades from leveling up permanent, making score reset to checkpoint, adding labels like “primary” and “secondary” for different power up types, etc).
The game was fun before but with some flaws. Now it is amazing. Thank you for your hard work and receptiveness to feedback!
Changed my rating to 5 stars. Well deserved!

Amazing dev who listens to feedback and bugs and quickly addresses them. Thank you for making the Assistant permanent and for changing Barrier to a drop. Perfect changes.
[BUG]
Barrier actually can also still show up in the level up powers.
[FEEDBACK]
Now for some feedback on the new Score feature. It’s really great to see this added, but there is an issue. Since the score doesn’t reset when you die, the best strategy to get a high score is to keep dying.
To fix this just make it so the score resets to where it was at the last checkpoint (beginning of each level). For example, if your score was 500 at the start of level 2 but then you die during that level, when you respawn at the beginning of level 2 your score should go back down to 500.
This way you can’t keep increasing your score by dying.
Thank you for your hard work adding new features and for fixing the fatal error bug so quickly!
—1.0.6 REVIEW (OUTDATED)—
However the upgrade system is confusing. It seems like there are 3 different types of upgrades but the game doesn’t do a good job to distinguish them:
1. Temporary upgrades that last until death (barrier, assistant, etc)
2. Permanent upgrades that last until the end of the run (power, speed, health, etc)
3. Overriding upgrades that replace existing upgrades with something which may be better or worse (replacing primary weapon or secondary weapon with one of a different type)
1. First I want to address temporary upgrades... they are terrible. The reason is because every time you level up you have a chance to get an upgrade. But each level requires you to kill more ships. So when you take a temporary upgrade and die, you are still a higher level, but you lost that temporary power up that you spent your previous level up on. So essentially you’ve just made it harder to get to your next power up without any lasting benefits.
2. For this reason, unless you are a really good player who can beat the whole game without dying, temporary power ups are a poor choice. You should only take permanent upgrades which carry over between deaths (speed, power, health, and your primary and secondary weapons of choice).
3. It needs to be clear what upgrades are primary weapons, what are secondary weapons, and what are neither. This way you can make sure you don’t accidentally replace a primary or secondary weapon you like with something weaker.
—Conclusion—
A. Put a symbol next to each upgrade which corresponds to the type of upgrade. There needs to be a symbol for “Primary Weapon”, “Secondary Weapon”, “Stat Increase”, and “Other Power Up”.
I know there are already symbols, but it should be explained what each of them mean. And also some of them don’t distinguish between the categories I mentioned.
B. Make all upgrades permanent across death so that temporary upgrades aren’t so bad. This especially helps with another problem that I have which is sometimes you get unlucky with upgrades and your ship can’t kill anything in the second level. I had a run where I had no +Power upgrades and no primary weapon upgrades above level 1 strength. So I was stuck barely being able to kill anything which made it impossible to get enough to level up. My weapon couldn’t even kill the 3 spike balls in the narrow tunnel parts of that level. If temporary weapons were permanent, there would be less chance that you get stuck with bad upgrades.
