Troubling and Concerning App
After using the app for a season, I noticed that it has been tracking my location to mark my attendance at games. (I forgot to mark myself as unavailable for a game and received a notification a few days later to say I would be charged a no-show fee of $15, as per terms and conditions. There is no other way they could possibly know I wasn’t there, other than by tracking my location.)
I do not recall consenting to the app having access to my location. I could not find anything in the terms and conditions or privacy statement which mentions the app tracking my location. I don’t remember ticking the “allow Justplay to access my location” button either.
Additionally, they have no telephone, and it is very difficult to get in contact with a real person through the app. Only weird chat bots.
Very frustrating to use. We had difficultly getting female players... it was a shermozzle.
Additionally, all fees are non-refundable and the app organisers can charge you at any time. A friend of mine was recently charged $200 for a season he did not sign up to. Possibly the developers need to check that their system hasn’t been hacked.
Very weird app. Vaguely concerning. Would have liked to have been informed my location is being tracked. I hope my friend can get a refund. 🤞
I think next season I will sign up directly with the club.

Great idea, but pretty bad execution. No accountability.
Now I’m in a comp and have only had a full team show up once. One game was forfeited 15 minutes before it started. No offer of a refund even though I didn’t get to play the game.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't enjoyed your time with Just Play. I've just taken a look at the conversation you had with our Customer Support team and want to let you know that you absolutely weren't penalised or removed from the team for flagging any issues. We can see in the game reports for your team that you consistently had a full team (with 4-5 permanent players attending each week, plus fill-ins) and as everyone renewed for next season we unfortunately did not have capacity for your friend to also join the team. As you were keen to join a team with your friend, we offered you a few other options, one of which was a competition starting in September - you absolutely are able to play before then in a different competition if you'd like, I believe our Customer Support offered you a few options with some earlier start dates. We also were more than happy to add you back to your original team instead of a different venue and offered this option. We do our best to get everyone playing in a competition that suits them and I'm sorry to hear that you haven't enjoyed your time so far. If you have any other questions or would like a hand finding other competitions that do have capacity for yourself and your friend, please feel free to reach back out to our Customer Support team.
Great concept supported by a well-made app
Coming from France, I’ve never heard about such an app there, you probably have a market to conquer :)

Management issues
However I have to put this in because it’s just getting frustrating to see that game times have been changed at the very last minute or on game days. Also we had a scenario where all of my teammates arrived ready to play, to then have the ref showed us a text saying the team forfeited. It’s frustrating to the players who has to travel a fair bit in traffic or rush over to find the disappointment of no game when they arrive.
Management isn’t perfect. But this has been happening so many times. Especially with the time changes. I love what you guys are providing but this needs to be addressed

Thanks for leaving this feedback - I definitely understand how frustrating this scenario is, especially happening multiple times, and I'm really sorry this is the experience you've had. We do our best to make sure all communication is clear, accurate, and timely. Unfortunately sometimes game times are changed by the venue at the last minute, which can make that difficult. I apologise for the miscommunication with the venue regarding that forfeit - I've passed on this feedback to our operations team so we can try to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone again in future. If it was just a one-off game you would have needed our sister app One Game to see the game details - Just Play is for full season memberships. You'll be happy to hear we have some new developments on both web and app coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled! 👀
Super Convenient
Just play has been awesome as I can join on my own or with friends, and I don’t need to sign up with a full team to be able to play with friends!
The price is 100% worth it for the convenience of having a team organised and also the ability to just label myself unavailable for a week - they organise a sub so I don’t have to worry about my team being a player down.
On top of that my team mates have all been awesome which adds to the fun factor!
