  • Closest to "Analog" Version, But You Have to Pass Phone

I downloaded this as a way to play this beloved game at a holiday "party" (not really a party - just my roommates - don't worry, I'm not insane) during COVID, so that a roommate who had potentially been exposed to the virus could still participate with the rest of us from a distance. I had hoped that this app would allow the game to be played across multiple phones, but it does not. Which, originally, had me rate this app four stats. That being said, I downloaded a few fishbowl apps trying to find this feature, and none of them seem to have it. SO! That feature aside: this app, though the least flashy-seeming, and not as highly rated as some, is actually the best one by a long shot! I say this because it really comes closest to the *feel* of playing with paper, to the point that I can see myself actually just use this app, sometimes, instead of using paper, in the post-COVID future, if I don't feel like tearing up pieces of paper and finding pens for everyone lol. The simpleness is pleasant, and the graphics are perhaps even more satisfying than real paper, actually! Most importantly, though, you actually get to "write" your own clues! This is unlike the other, more highly-rated, apps that I came across, which have pre-made cards, for some godforsaken reason... and not very good ones, honestly! I don't want fifteen clues that are random Hollywood actors and five clues that are random Star Wars references... I suppose that's fine for some crowds, but not mine. I want to judge new people by what words they come up with, have inside jokes crop up between old friends, and see the good-natured hatred in my cousin's eyes while they try to prompt my grandma to guess "cosecant" with a carefully-intoned grunt. Five stars for this developer, then, for understanding what was most important to people who like playing this game IRL :) Thanks for making this! (We're going to end up putting a phone in a plastic baggy to pass around on a tray, and spraying the bag with sanitizer between the contaminated roommate and the rest of us lol, for anyone who is wondering).
