Horrific Customer Service

I am not one to complain, as it takes time out of my day that is already limited. However, I must share my story here so that nobody else needs to experience what I have. I accidentally purchased the Pro+ membership for 1 year. within 30 minutes I cancelled my membership, deleted the app and emailed customer service about the mixup. Over the following weeks I’ve sent 4 additional follow-ups with no response. These people cannot be trusted, they are basically stealing from me and won’t even respond to my inquiries. It didn’t have to be this way, I’m not really even upset about the $, they just don’t care. Don’t waste your time or $ on this app, please let my experience be a lesson to you all. Shame on you Hiiker! I will tell everyone I know about this experience and hope to prevent others from being scammed!

This is 100% a fake review. 99.9% of customer support requests are responded to in under 5 mins. We are very open about sharing our direct contact details (paul@hiiker.com is my email) and we have NEVER refused a refund.

This is not a fatmap replacement as it is advertised

Map is Mapbox and it’s way behind ArcGis

Not for use in USA

This app is not developed in the States. I purchased pro, and any free phone app has more detail than HiiKER maps. I tried to get a refund and received no response. We have a state park that has been there forever and it’s not available in the Hiiker map download. Don’t lose your cash on this one.

Hey! Paul here. You can download any map area on the planet. Every inch of the lower has coverage with USGS, and many area have National parks maps. In addition you can also download maps from providers like Purple Lizard. If there is something specific I can loom into please let me know paul@hiiker.co

Interface is pretty busy leading to easily clicking unwanted things. Search function doesn’t have the inventory nor update speed of other apps.

I can see you're on an older version of the app. If you keep up to date with the latest version, we continue to improve on the speed of the app. A big goal of ours is to improve simplicity throughout the app - including the UI. If you stick with us, you'll see these improvements evolve

App left us high and dry

Had used search to try to find a hike nearby. App had a hard time locating me in Virginia and kept searching for hikes in Ireland. We finally got that working, located a nearby hike that we knew would be outside of cell service - downloaded the appropriate map for offline viewing. Once we arrived - nothing. The app would not allow me to call up that downloaded map/trail. I’ll never use again. That’s the most basic feature that should work without fail.

Almost Great

The different map options are great, especially OS and Harvey’s. The snap route planning is the best I’ve come across it uses FP & BW that most apps seem to not like. BUT resolution is terrible even on a iPhone Pro, OS doesn’t zoom from explorer to landranger. I’m not a fan of how you download the maps, doing it by region/area ie Lake District or N. Yorkshire is a far better system than zooming in and out and having to initiate multiple downloads for one trip. The suggested walks seem pretty good but I really only want it for planning and navigation. Unfortunately won’t be resubscribing as there are better options out there.

landscape mode

It falls at the first hurdle. I want to use app in landscape mode on my iPad. There is no option to do this. It cannot be that hard? Then when trying to plot a route it doesn’t snap to the last point if you use undo, it creates a line drawing connecting every point , utterly useless and they want you to pay.

Hey Craig! Paul here, iOS lead. Yeah there is an issue when planning sometimes that the markers go out of order. Fixing it today. On the landscape side, there honestly is a good bit of work to it. There is a full web version of the planner that will auto sync with your app if thats helpful at all. I'll update this as soon as I have fixed the planner issue today!

Apple Watch App

Great app for iPhone - especially that offline maps are included. I couldn’t find an Apple Watch app though which is a dealbreaker for me.

Very accurate

Great app, very accurate and reliable, especially in those little tricky sections. Just used for Hadrian’s Wall and it was fab. Had to contact customer support at the start due to my own incompetence and was assisted by Pete in less than a few minutes who helped me get sorted and on my way. Much appreciated Pete thank you, very quick response and had a fab time as a result. Not previously one to use apps, preferring a paper OS map, I would now recommend using this app and having a paper OS map just for back up. So easy to use, accurate, full of useful information such as shops, campsites, hostels, hotels, water sources etc and able to provide location and distance in a second. Downloadable maps for offline use too and overlaid maps to suit your own preference.

Distance measurement

Recently downloaded this app and just started exploring it. It has suggested several hikes in my area, so that makes me happy. However, it’s a little difficult to use when the distance measurement is only in kilometers. Maybe Miles could be added to it also.
