Best Chinese learning app by far!
FullChinese takes all the moving parts of learning a language (I.e., texts, a bilingual Chinese-English dictionary, flashcards), puts it in one place, and then does more!
I remember in the past it would always be so frustrating to learn a lesson composed of 30 new words, 10 different grammatical structures for a quiz in a few days! And it was not because it was a lot of work, but also I would have to use so many tools at once to get anything done:
1. A laptop for Google translate (basically a dictionary)
2. My textbook with just the texts
3. My notebook to complete my assignment
4. Flashcards
5. Pens to keep track of important sentences/words in the text
This means I would always be sitting at a cramped desk with a dozen things struggling to write things down. Aghh, it’s so frustrating just thinking about it!
But after using this app, all those problems essentially went away. I only needed my phone /tablet use the app and a notebook to write down my answers. I save space and time! I can also load any text into the app and start learning immediately.
The app of course has the 1-5. of the things listed above: each sentence translated above while learning, your texts, the ability to highlight sentences and words (which are immediately added to a flash card deck). That’s honestly not unheard of in many other apps.
HOWEVER, this app also has the following:
1. Videos: You can watch Chinese videos in real with bilingual subtitles (Chinese/English) and save the entire transcript and videos to your own text page.
2. In-app translation of text from the internet: You can also copy & paste any article into the app or any video with Chinese subtitles and you can play the audio of the text at any speeds!
3. Live playback from a native speaker of the text you’re learning (slow, medium, fast)
4. Customizable “Pages”: essentially let’s you make your own lessons with videos/articles/your own text.
5. A smart progress algorithm: after going through your flashcards, it will tell you how much you understand the words automatically (e.g., 85%)
6. Quizzes
Anyways, if you want to get past the a wall as an intermediate-advanced (or honestly even beginner), give this app a go!
