Science of Reading

Lots of new content (~15 XP's), around oral language building, and word recognition. This release added Word Recognition as a drop-down in the side-drawer; creates a new section of the app, and moves all the grade-specific content there. With the other recent under-the-hood changes, can now add content much more robustly. Did we break anything? Happy teaching and learning!

Up-to-the-minute developments in the SoR community! 0.8.8.3 Why, yes, we did break something. Or maybe Apple did. Anyway, fixed all those Apple Podcasts that were hanging and not displaying. 0.8.8.2: Fix regression when clicking Level 2 on dashboard. Added 5 resources. 0.8.8.1: Fixed the problem with displaying/zooming images. Upgraded the Dashboard to show Level 3 progress. 0.8.8.0: A number of new resources reflect newly released research, and current discussions. Almost all pages have now been updated to use sections, so much more freedom in how we can add new content. Which will free us to expand on the ELA Block and other complex topics.

Marching toward version 1.0 and hopefully open source release of code. Created a common content component that each page can use to display nearly all content. Changed the Level II side drawer menu to accordion out grade-specific pages. This will let us provide much more focused help to classroom teachers. We added over a dozen new resources since 0.8.7.0, most getting into more details of the very earliest instruction of phonemic awareness and phonemes. But also, two that look at how research can be done badly, and still change policy, or be done well, but be corrupted in the translation into broad public understanding.

In time for the holidays, much improved Timeline of the Science. Lot of new content, especially around writing, MTSS Interventions, and comprehension. Plus significant coding improvements to allow adding new content faster, and with more display options.

Introduce composite XP’s that include several parts. Added a couple more resources on 'Word callers", .... Fixed some errors. Hopefully a work-around for old insecure web pages not showing up. Added 'Collaborative Conversations' big guide, and a study on so-called 'word callers'. Added some new high school and comprehension resources. Fixed some behind-the-scenes code. Firebase updated from 2.x to 3.x, and other package updates, as well.

A new timeline of the science (with collapsable elements). Better internal happiness with Osei Fortune's new Firebase plugin.  And a bunch of new resources to help kids learn to read!

More love for the content: New sections for Level III. More resources & lessons. Including new ExcelInEd literacy site + policy framework; more on curriculum research, learning science, approaches to phonology/ phonemic awareness…

More great new content. Including 'Sold A Story', the heartbreaking tale of how we came to need this app.  And a couple marvelous reviews of the science that we need to hear and share.

Substantial new content for Level III. Fixes and additional content for other levels. Continued upgrade under the hood toward future customization.

0.7.9 build soft-introduces Level 3 content. Also, lots of fixes to new under-the-hood approach we built into 0.7.8. Plus nice new icons to help the learning. A few new XP's, as well.
