It just doesn’t work
I tried to create an avatar but it just doesn’t work, I used saved pictures and took plenty of pictures per instructions, used a different phone, even asked friends to try it but it doesn’t save the pictures and generate an avatar, really disappointing
App doesn’t work
I followed instructions took a picture, app processed and took back to screen to “Take a picture” Tried 5 times but never produced anything from my picture.
Horrible
This app has so much potential and I keep seeing videos on YouTube about how helpful this is supposed to be for meetings. I couldn’t even get my picture to pop up after I took it. I tried over 12 times and it never went to the next step.
Desktop Counterpart Stopped Working
It was a great app until it suddenly stopped working. No support either. I used desktop version 2.2.32 which included custom background images. It’s sad when these great projects just stop working because the devs are no longer updating them
Doesn’t work
Can’t get pass photo stage
App works now
This works fine on ios and on the Mac platform now - so it is worth updating your app if you tried it before and it didn’t work, but still can’t get the corresponding PC software to work.
I’m a teacher and it is very useful for providing a live action ‘front’ for students to interact with, while preserving your own privacy. It really promotes engagement when combined with a desktop version of Zoom or Google Meets and used for distance learning.
You can’t use the live action avatar for video conferencing from a mobile device though - that functionality is desktop/laptop only.
I definitely get the idea this is all very beta software and we are being used as beta testers prior to monetising it. Still, there isn’t anything else like this around even though it is still close to ‘minimum viable product’ so why not give it a go? Watch out for all those YouTube tutorials - they make it seem effortless to make it work. That has been far from my experience. Fortunately the developers do seem to take note of feedback and push out updates based on it (sometimes very quickly)- even if they don’t reply.

Not working
Camera isn’t recognising my face. It keeps going back to the take a phot stage. Frustrating.
No support
I tried to use this app but could not get pass the photo stage. My avatar would not appear. I emailed and searched the web for a solution and nothing. I wish I could use it but no luck!
Response from developer
Sorry about the trouble with the Loomie app. We have just released a new version (1.3.084) - please update your app, creating avatars should work again now.
Doesn’t register face on multiple IOS devices.
After seeing lots of great tutorials on youtube about how to create live avatars i thought I’d give it a go. Only the app doesn't work - on any of my IOS devices, on a whole range of Apple accounts. When you take a selfie, it isn't recognised - even when you follow every instruction to the letter. I’ve even cloned the photos used in the tutorials, and they don't work either. It seems that everyone else is having the same issue. Oh, and how can this app have so few reviews on the app store when it has been around for years and had so many glowing reviews on all the tech websites and youtube?
