All Versions of Pure Acid

1.5.4

March 30, 2023

- Fixed: Ableton Link was not working in the network between Ableton Live and Pure Acid on the newest iOS versions; - AUv3: Midi In Channel settings bug fixed. Previously, audio units always had [Bass: Any, Drums: 10] Midi In channel setting. Now it corresponds to what you set in the standalone's global Midi In Channel settings (Settings menu); - now you can Paste a bassline (or drums) pattern into a new pattern slot during playback right before jumping to that slot. It is helpful during live playback if you want to create several bassline (or drums) patterns by copying one to another without interrupting the playback. All you have to do is tap the destination pattern slot, and then quickly tap the Paste button right before the cursor jumps to that pattern slot.

1.4.3

November 17, 2020

In this update: - a quick fix for iPhone 12 Pro Max display resolution support; In previous 1.4.2 update: Introducing step conditions in the drum sequencer! Now you can assign step conditions to various drum steps while in Step Edit mode to make your drum patterns more live and diverse! Just tap a step (or hold it) and rotate the data knob to assign desired step condition to selected step. A list of step conditions used: -> CPY (copy previous condition result); -> 1st (play step only once at the first pattern's run, useful for e.g. Crash Cymbal); -> 10-90% (sets probability of this step playback); -> X:Y (e.g. 2:4 means play step during each 2nd repeat of every 4 repeats of the pattern); -> stripe/exclamation marked conditions mean inversion of the condition result. Also in this update: • bug fixed in multi-output AUv3: when sending midi data to Pure Acid's Midi Input, the sound of the non-master busses was distorted; • now you can set AUv3 to open initially with a blank preset instead of an Init pattern by changing in standalone Settings -> General -> "Load AUv3 with" setting; • some factory presets were modified to include new step condition feature; • 5 new factory pattern presets added; • standalone midi output: slide notes overlapping increased a bit; • Audiobus and Ableton Link SDK updated to the latest versions; • minor bug fixes and iOS 14 support.

Also, you can map individual drum outputs to any of these 6 busses (under the "Drum Set/Bus" switch). You can also assign send effects Fx A and Fx B outputs to any bus as well. Reviews of Pure Acid

  • Impeccable Sound Quality

Honestly one of the best sounding soft synths on iOS alongside Poison. The effects are top notch and really allow you to tame and expand the sound, and most of the muddy low end that you would get on the real deal can more easily be scooped out with tuning up without affecting clarity.

One spot for improvement - having a standalone bassline and mixer in the auv3 would be very handy given I sequence and program drums externally. Currently, the drums and sequencer are just extra clutter and cpu to deal with when hosted even though the kits do sound great. Heck, I would even pay the same just to have that.
  • Best 303 on the iOS App Store

I’ve never owned a real TB 303, but I did have a Behringer TD-3 which I did side by side comparisons with, and when I was done I sold the TD-3. In my opinion the oscillator sounds, the filter response, the envelope and the accent are all spot-on. The LFO and distortion are nice bonuses. The sequencer is great. The drum machine sounds terrific and the step sequencer is easy enough to program. It all works great as an AUv3 plugin, including multi-output for more complex setups.

A first-rate 303 synthesizer with enough functionality to be a fun acid groovebox that will plug into your DAW. If this isn’t in your collection you are missing out!
  • Pure (controllable) Crazy!

Very VERY fun! At first glance it seems like it’s gonna take and hour long video or a lengthy sit down with the manual. But I learned enough to have a blast just by poking around. It’s broad and deep and is perhaps the most fun live performance app in iOS! The ability to regenerate the melodic sequence is my favorite aspect. You can choose any combo of variables: note, gate, scale, key, then regenerate on the fly, reverse, shift, vary and undo it all to revert back to a base melody.
It’s really all that - just buy it already!
