Price History of Harp Real

Description of Harp Real

The Harp is a stringed musical instrument that has a number of individual strings running at an angle to its soundboard; the strings are plucked with the fingers. Harps have been known since antiquity in Asia, Africa and Europe, dating back at least as early as 3500 BC. The instrument had great popularity in Europe during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, where it evolved into a wide range of variants with new technologies, and was disseminated to Europe's colonies, finding particular popularity in Latin America. Although some ancient members of the harp family died out in the Near East and South Asia, descendants of early harps are still played in Myanmar and parts of Africa, and other defunct variants in Europe and Asia have been utilized by musicians in the modern era. Harps vary globally in many ways. In terms of size, many smaller harps can be played on the lap, whereas larger harps are quite heavy and rest on the floor. Different harps may use strings of catgut, nylon, metal, or some combination. While all harps have a neck, resonator, and strings, frame harps have a pillar at their long end to support the strings, while open harps, such as arch harps and bow harps, do not. Modern harps also vary in techniques used to extend the range and chromaticism (e.g., adding sharps and flats) of the strings, such as adjusting a string's note mid-performance with levers or pedals which modify the pitch. The pedal harp is a standard instrument in the orchestra of the Romantic music era (ca. 1800–1910) and the contemporary music era. Reviews of Harp Real

Terrific sound! But surprised by ads.

When I saw that this was a free app, I jumped right on it! I was expecting some kind of chintzy sound, but very much to my surprise however, the replication is so very true to what a harp should sound like!

When I went to play some of the built-in songs, however, suddenly ads started popping up, which I wasn’t ready for at all. In fairness, one has to remember that pretty much anything free still has some kind of price, and while I get frustrated by ads that pop up out of nowhere (thus blowing the mood), I shouldn’t be surprised.

That said, this is a truly wonderful app! I was looking for a transpose button somewhere, or even a marginal instruction manual, neither of which I found. However, if you wish to change the tuning of the harp, those little levers at the very top of the instrument are how you change it. that’s just like a non-pedal harp so the realism is very much there. The description says outright that this is modeled after a folk harp, which is much smaller — and MUCH less expensive — than a concert pedaled harp!

You also have other parameters you can change, like reverb/ room size, and it is to the developers’ credit that so much detail was packed into this free app!

Overall: Bravo to the developers!
