As Dead as a Dodo
I’ve used a number of food ordering apps since 2015. Moving back to Mauritius, I was thrilled to learn that there was a food delivery application. However, my excitement was short lived.
1. The system is seldom operational. It appears that there may be one delivery person assigned to an area and when they are not working, it’s not possible to order. I’ve not been able to order for over 2 months now despite trying at various times of the day.
2. I have to keep re-entering my location as it does not navigate directly to the order page. Previous applications I’ve used save the address and go straight to the order page with an option to change locations if needed. This application opens with the prompt to ‘enter location’. May I suggest that this be used to facilitate determining if there’s a delivery person nearby and, if not, to tell the patron the service is currently unavailable to prevent having to scroll through all the restaurants to see ‘offline’ or ‘closed’.
3. It’s misleading to state a restaurant is ‘closed’ when in fact it’s open but it’s the app service that’s closed. Currently, for months, all the restaurants are listed as ‘closed’ or ‘offline’.
4. It would be great to be able to rate the food and delivery.
5. The delivery fee is a little excessive compared to other apps. I do acknowledge that it’s a different geographical location with its own challenges and this will influence the costs.
This app would definitely be used by residents on the island if it worked. As it currently stands, it’s as “dead as a dodo”.
