Description of EVCoDriver

The EVCoDriver is a navigation app specialized for electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce range anxiety and charging anxiety for your road trips. Range & charging anxiety is the fear that you may be stranded due to insufficient energy and also the uneasiness that you may encounter long waiting queues and charger malfunction at charging stations. The EVCoDriver allows you to easily start your road trips just by inputting your current battery level (state of charge) and your destinations without checking locations and availability of charging stations. It will auto-route/reroute the shortest time path with lower energy consumption from start point to destinations via available charging stations where short wait times are expected, based on your current battery level and car charging requirements. You no longer have to make a charging plan before starting your trip or worry about how you intend to reach destinations during the drive beyond your car's single charge limits and can arrive with peace of mind and power left over. Features: - Sign-in by Apple ID, Google ID or email address - Easily register your EV - Select/deselect your charging service networks - Set battery level update at start point - Input destinations and waypoints to find the shortest time path with lower energy consumption. It displays driving, waiting and charging times as well as distance - Tap destinations and charging stations icons to check estimated arrival SOC values at the destinations and charging stations, and also minimum suggested target SOC to charge at the charging stations - During navigation, EVCoDriver calculates energy consumption based on smartphone sensor data and automatically finds the new shortest time path to destinations via charging station(s) in case that you go on a different path or charging station's status changes - Automatically collect State of Charge(SOC) data of selected EV models - Map display color scheme settings of Auto, Day or Night - Music control feature for Apple Music app

Reviews of EVCoDriver

  • Inaccurate information with no way to correct

So I have a Chevy Bolt. It’s official range is 238 miles. The app pegs it at 168. Now, obviously with freeway driving, I will probably get less that 238, but not THAT much less. So that’s problem #1. Inputting a long drive I’ve taken before it has me stopping an extra stop than needed and charging twice as long as you actually need.

Another issue is that if you have the default mail app set to a 3rd party app on your phone and uninstall Apple’s Mail app, there’s no way to send feedback.

I guess I get what the app is trying to do, but there are better options.

    Developer Response

Thanks a lot for your review. EV Co-Driver ver. 3 adopts more realistic electric range settings for 2017/2018/2019/2020/2021 Chevrolet Bolt. EV Co-Driver ver. 2 uses very conservative settings based on our highway drive tests of Chevrolet Bolt. Using EV Co-Driver ver. 3 with Chevrolet Bolt, you may trip by appropriate number of charges. We are working on further improvements of EV Co-Driver's routing logic for our next updates. About the mail support feature, EV Co-Driver needs Apple Mail app installed. (As pointed out, you may send feedback by the other mail app if Apple Mail app is installed.) In case that Apple Mail app is not installed, please send feedback to support@evcodriver.com by mail app or on our web site.
  • Extremely basic and not quite functional

There isn’t much to this app. I tried it and quickly deleted for the following reasons:
doesn’t take into account battery degradation, I set it to 90% but I can’t tell the app that my 90% is not a brand new 90%, not ever is but I can’t change that so all calculations will be off for the route.
Zoom out to far and you can’t look for chargers in a large area.
Took too long to map route, gave up and deleted. Was promising idea, poor execution. This is not a version 2+ app, still 0.X.

    Developer Response

Thank you very much for your comments. We are periodically reviewing our EV specs master data for EV Co-Driver. The latest master data is in consideration of battery deterioration for some old models. Pinch in/out and tap the upper right "electric" icon and you can see charging stations on the zoomed in/out map area. We hope you will try EV Co-Driver ver. 3.x.x.
