Wat als een apparaat slim genoeg is om te merken dat het dom werk doet? Dustin is een interactief verhaal dat een toekomst verkent waarin slimme apparaten ook emoties krijgen.
Hoofdpersonage in het verhaal is de slimme stofzuiger Dustin die zich niet goed voelt in zijn rol en zoekt naar manieren om zijn lot te beïnvloeden. Het verhaal speelt zich af in een chat interface enf in augmented reality (AR). In deze scènes zie je Dustin in jouw eigen huiskamer of keuken verschijnen.
Dustin bestaat uit vijf hoofdstukken. Deze kun je achter elkaar doorspelen, of verdelen over een aantal dagen. In totaal duurt het uitspelen van het verhaal circa 20-30 minuten.
Dustin is een samenwerking tussen VPRO Medialab en schrijver Niels ‘t Hooft. De app is mede mogelijk gemaakt door bijdragen van het VOGIN Go Fonds en NPO Innovatie.
