Pros and cons in Blocking Pornography
Pros and cons:
Not so awesome.
I am upset about paying for apps that just cannot get something right. Canopy Blocker is not compatible with other IOS apps such FamiSafe blocker.
Canopy does not merge its blocking or filtering contents with other apps such Freedom, Blocker x Pro, and FamiSafe. Instead, it breaks down the entire internet when the VPN is switched to another VPN or it is turned off. Either on IOS, or MacOS.
Canopy just does NOT work well either on IOS, or MacOs.
It is a waste of money.
The downtime schedule does not work well. It either does not unable the apps after a block, or it blocks the whole internet while using downtime. No, block just when we schedule a slot, but not when we schedule a break.

Canopy blocks access to pornography on IOS while blocking the entire internet if enabled or switched out. (NOT good).
Canopy blocks nudity while blocking the complete internet on IOS as it does on MacOs. (NOT good).
In summary,
While Canopy blocks pornography, it needs improvements in internet filtering (blocking pornography). As well as when scheduling downtime and allowing breaks (time to use the apps). I hope this change in the future, if it has not as of November 11th, 2024.

Great tool for parents
Fantastic app to help parents put up some guardrails as they teach their kids safe Internet habits. Gives us great peace of mind for a really affordable price.
The only slight downside (and hence only 4 stars): the app is sometimes overly restrictive in blocking content. For example, even harmless selfies my daughter tries to send me on Facebook Messenger are systematically blocked, despite many attempts to resolve the problem. Slightly annoying, but I’ll happily take overly restrictive rather than the reverse :)

Good app, but support isn’t great.
I never write reviews, but this has been one of the most stressful issues I’ve had dealing with support. If you try to set up an account online, it asks for your card information then takes you to the app, and the app only allows you to sign up VIA iTunes. The online version charged our card for the annual fee, even though it took us to the app where we then had to sign up with iTunes and were double charged. Reached out to support for a refund as it made 2 separate accounts and is charging us $100 for the annual plan that we did not pick, plus the monthly plan for $10. Wanted a refund on the annual plan that’s linked to an account I have no access to, they sent it to the finance team who told me they can’t refund it because it was through Apple. It literally was charged on our debit card, as we put our card info in. Emailed them back (because they clearly didn’t read the thread of the conversation) and was told it would be sent back to the finance team and would be corrected. Still haven’t heard back, and still out $100 on an account I don’t have access to. Very frustrating. The app does block the content you set it as and does a good job.

Irregularities with Internet access
While it does what it says, it restricts internet access to my other apps if not all after I have allowed them and they are unharmful. The VPN needs work.

Good app for blocking everything
I installed this parental control app to block adult content, but it ended up causing more problems than it solved. While it did successfully block inappropriate websites, it also started blocking some of my regular apps that had nothing to do with adult content. On top of that, my internet connection became noticeably slower, making it frustrating to use my phone. When I reached out to the admin team for support, they were incredibly slow to reply and weren’t very helpful at all, which just added to the frustration. The idea behind the app is good, but it needs serious improvement, both in functionality and customer support.

We use this for adult monitoring!
We’ve been using this for adult monitoring as this is not just for kids! Once our children are old enough to use the internet we will 100% use it for them as well! The internet can be such a nasty place and we just don’t like seeing all of the ick that’s out there. One thing is it is blocks A LOT which is great for kids - if you’re an adult it does “over block” which is what you want but as an adult can be a little challenging trying to look up certain things for shopping! Would love if canopy came out with an adult version! Overall LOVE this app! They’ve done a great job.

Canopy App
Our family has been using Canopy for several years. We have used two other filtering systems prior to Canopy. Canopy has been far more effective in filtering content than any other system we have used.
It has not been without hiccups along the way in sometimes blocking too much content. However, if there is going to be an error, I would much rather it be in censoring too much rather than too little. It has not been too difficult to either turn the filtering off when needed or to add additional websites to the “allowed” list.
I look forward to the upgrades that will come as Canopy developers continue to strive to make it simple for families to protect those they love from accidental or deliberate exposure to inappropriate content.

Worth it
This app catches everything browser related. It could be improved by figuring out how to catch more content through 3rd party extensions like Facebook and X. Worth it for you and your family.
