Description of APM Sweep

APM Sweep is the successor of the well known APM Tool: it let you quickly measure the acoustical performance of a room (reverberation time, clarity, etc. in octave and third octave bands), check if that room is well suited for its purpose and, if not, choose which materials can improve the acoustical quality. Everything still there but with an exciting improvement: now you can use all the power of the Exponential Sine Sweep technique for the measurement process, so your results can be extremely precise and accurate. You can also, save, load and export results in common spreadsheet format. The app can also generate pdf reports with photos. A tutorial slideshow explains the app use. Required at least iOS 11.0

Reviews of APM Sweep

  • Doesn’t work

It’s frustrating that after all these years, there isn’t a way to test apps out for their functionality prior to purchasing them at full price. While this app is only $2.99, it was a complete waste of money.
Reading the description led me to believe it would do what i wanted…the fact there were no reviews should have been an indication…
I purchased and downloaded the app onto a new 11” iPad Pro (3rd generation) running the most recent iOS 15.6.1. I went to the tutorial section and tapped “open tutorial” and nothing happened…i tried again and again and nothing happened and unless you quit the app, you cannot get back to the Home Screen.
I quit and restarted the app and went into settings. Here i could change a number of parameters and then attempted to capture my first room’s data…i clapped, then clapped again and again and again and still nothing.
From here, i went to the developer’s website, which is in Italian, but has a tab for English at the top, which i selected…and the language never changed. There do not seem to be any links for tutorials on their site and the tab to contact them via email is grayed out. Some of the sections on the website are still in progress and have the stock “lorem ipsum” under a few categories.
I realize there are tons of apps out here, but it would be great if Apple took the time to review what apps are being kept up to date and pull those that are not working properly or at all and no longer work with recent iOS’. Sadly, that probably won’t happen as long as they continue to receive revenue from faulty apps such as this.
