Great concept, but...

While this app encouranges the power of social writing, it comletely misses the opportunity to create more connected writing that goes beyond a few lines per contributor.

I would consider paying for this app, if it had a way to allow for longer-form content and allowed for groups of people. Think of it for families, couples, classrooms, etc. But, as it stands, it feels too wrapped up in one mode of writing, which is a real shame.

You did it before me lol

Let the person who first made go creative with how they wanted it to be worked on, like a option where you can let the others see all the posts before they put there’s, how many paragraphs they want, how many lines of text there can be for each paragraph, restrictions on if they want it to be scary or silly. And also, if you can have a version where it’s just two people texting eatchother, and also I have a unique idea! What if you have three people where one is called a “god”, and the two others, “humans”, and the god instead writes a story about them, and the humans write what they want to do in it, without them seeing the other humans text. When they are done, the god will put it together, and write what happens, either it can be seen by both of them, or the god writes something different for both of them. I wish I could work more with you about this, cause in my opinion this could be the funnest game in the world!! Idk how to get a job and I’m 16, but I believe I’m really smart, and could create some great ideas for you!!! 🥺🥺🥺

Fun creative spark…when taken seriously

I love this app and the quick dose of creativity that it brings me throughout the day. Stories veer off in crazy new directions and then land in your doorstep for the creator of the “corpse” to title. Unfortunately, as the app has grown in popularity there has been a lot of trolls and children that ignore the story prompts and ruin the stories with short, poorly written statements like “he dumb and died” or worse. I’ve had stories get the trolls posts deleted only to have the same person come back and do it again. This inevitability has led to an increasing number of entire stories getting deleted by their creators, and it’s a real shame. It could benefit from some ability to block users from contributing, flag posts, or in some way combat this. When everyone takes it seriously it can be a lot of fun.

FANTASTIC app for writers and gamers!

I never write app reviews, but I’m a creative writer and gamer who’s been feeling a little uninspired due to the pandemic. Byline provided just the nudge I needed to feel more creative. So much fun! I love seeing a story get finished in ways that are either hilariously unhinged or even sometimes beautifully poigniant.

A little like Words With Friends, but way better

Byline is one of the only apps that *always* gives me joy. Whether you’re creating a story with friends, co-workers, or total strangers, Byline is good for hours and hours of fun. You’ll be amazed by what weird, wonderful, and hilarious things you can create together!

Bring out your inner Shakespeare...or Sidney Sheldon

With Byline, you are in control. Make your mark with prose that Will Shakespeare would be proud of, or trash it up like those books my Mom used to read by Sidney Sheldon. Either way, you and your friends, coworkers, family or perfect strangers are in for some fun.

10/10 Would Write Again

During these strange times of social distancing and isolation it’s so much fun to be able to come together through shared writing. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s a little dark, but it’s always satisfying.

Download now and try it with friends.
