  • App Constantly Buffering, Missing Much of the Content

This app is virtually useless. Despite strong wifi connections, the app “buffers” for minutes over and over, on and on. And despite choosing “autoplay on start” it rarely does. Fix this app!
  • Not good

ESPN 1000 is great, this new app not so much.

The autoplay function never works and I often have to kill and relaunch the app to get any audio.

I’m going back to listening on TuneIn as long as I can.
  • Won’t open up on autoplay

Will not autoplay when opening the app and yes it is checked in the box and half the time won’t play after pressing play. When I am listening to it and have to pause it for a minute it won’t come back on. The worst app I ever dealt with! Been doing this since the app came out. Back to TUNE IN app till improvements are made.

  • Needs work

App is OK for listening to live radio but the podcast functionality needs some work. This app needs to allow access to past on-demand episodes for longer than 5 days, and also needs a sleep timer. If ESPN 1000 was going to completely remove their pods from Apple Podcasts, they should’ve worked out more of the kinks before making this the exclusive home of their podcasts. The on-air talent is still great, but the app...not so much.

  • The "newly released app" that is worse than apps from 10 years ago

I love ESPN 1000 and the personalities they have on the air, however this app and their constant changing of where they are posting their podcasts is about to make me give up on the whole channel.

The app doesn't save where you last listened to it, so if I make a phone call, push pause and open another app, receive a phone call, turn my car off, turn my headphones off or simply pause the show for over 15 seconds I NEED TO SPEND MINUTES SCROLLING THROUGH AN EPISODE TO FIND MY EXACT SPOT AGAIN. It's absolutely maddening. When I used to listen to the podcasts on the ESPN app, the Apple podcast app, or even Tune In Radio app I never had this problem.

This app also doesn't allow you to search more than 2 days in the past. So if you miss an episode or want to share a great interview with a friend.... good luck, ain't happening. Also the short show recap that tells what's happening in that particular hour isn't viewable beyond like 5 words.

Now that they've decided that this is the only place where they are going to host their podcasts, if the app isn't working (like right now) there's no way to catch up on the show or listen via another app.

I've been listening to ESPN 1000 for over 12 years. I live in Colorado so I rely on the podcasts from the day before to get my Chicago sports news, but if I have to keep putting up with this crappy app my years of being a loyal listener are about over. It's crap.

  • Does not work

I don’t know if being overseas has anything to do with it, but every time I try and open the app it says “unable to download content. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and restart the application”. I am definitely connected to the internet. And it gave the same response on a different phone

  • Tune In Much Better

    Pros: Lay out

    Cons:
There are a couple of pivotal features that are lacking and I don’t understand why they don’t get fixed.

    1. Doesn’t save your place when you exit the app mid podcast. If for whatever reason you close the app, or even simply switch to another app, the ESPN app won’t continue playing from where you left off when you start it back up again. Is this really that difficult to fix?

    2. If another app uses audio, and pauses the ESPN Chicago app audio, the ESPN Chicago app won’t begin automatically playing again once you stop the audio for the other app. For example, I’ll be listening to the show on the ESPN Chicago app. While listening, I’ll click a 30 second video on twitter. Once the video on twitter stops playing, the ESPN app won’t automatically begin playing again.

These are two CRUCIAL features to a radio/podcast/music app. I don’t have this problem with Spotify, tune in, audible, ESPN, and nearly every other app that plays audio.

I won’t use the app until these two obvious issues are fixed.

  • Love the content app needs serious bug fixes

Every time I’m listening and I get a call I have to kill app and restart. And do I think the auto start could work at least once I go through the settings all the time and it’s turned on but I have to go to live radio to get it to play. Love the shows and all the peeps on air but app is garbage. I use a iPhone 8 I have the best luck using the i ❤️radio app. Thanks ESPN for keep on chugging through these crazy times

  • Ok

Quicker to navigate to my shows than the ESPN app. The podcast will not save your progress. If the phone rings, the show starts over. Very frustrating.
  • It’s ok, but...

The Good: It houses all of the ESPN Chicago podcasts plus the live radio feed. Controls are standard, simple, effective.

The Bad: It fails at one of the most basic features of any podcast app -- saving your place and picking up where you left off. All other podcast apps I’ve ever used over the years will automatically “bookmark” where you were on a particular podcast, so that if you change over to a different podcast and come back, it will have remembered your progress. Not this app. If you move off your podcast and come back to it, it starts from the beginning and you have to manually fast-forward and try to find where you left off. That blows.
Fix that deficiency and you have a solid app.

Bonus points if they would build in buffering for the live feed (like TuneIn), so that you can rewind up to 20-30 minutes of what you just listened to on the live broadcast.
