Data grab

In response to the βdeveloperβ comments post on 12th jan, your app is not here to support the locals, which Iβm a resident of the streatham area. You are tricking people in to giving you access to their data. Your app has nothing on it but what google has listed. You should be ashamed to say to developed anything.
Remember potential users what you are giving these people once you click yes to the terms and conditions.
.....
Your response speaks volumes. You accuse, attack and abuse anyone who disagrees with you. Remember potential users who you are letting access to your data. I have reported your comments back to Apple as well.

An anonymous troll review, unfortunately with an untruthful headline. We DO NOT 'data grab' anything other than an email address to manage users who use may try to use the app to publish offensive material, bullying, religious or sexual content. That's a responsible thing to do. As this is not a review, but a smear, we have invited the author to chat to us directly, and they have declined. Please read our fully transparent and honest response below and make up your own mind. p.s. To be honest, we are quite pleased to be having this public dialogue with 'unhappy-with-pocketmags'. It appears to have made quite a few people curious and interested in the app, as we've seen a huge spike in app downloads recently. Thank you. ========================================================================== The review has been written by a competitor publisher who has tried to use a platform called pocketmags in an attempt to become a digital publisher (and then complained about them because they didn't like or understand their very fair pricing). We are taking the opportunity to turn a negative into a positive, and point out the inaccuracies written above to highlight more about our free community app. We have also publicly invited 'unhappy-with-pocketmags' to contact us directly rather than trolling us and hiding behind their persona, but have yet to hear from them. Here are the facts about our app; - We DO NOT COLLECT ANY DATA other than a login email, which is standard practice. This is to prevent people spreading hate messages, political/religious views, bullying, inappropriate or sexual imagery and to monitor keyboard warriors spreading gossip or lies within the app itself. - We are proud that our app is a safe and secure environment for all users to use. - We support the Streatham community, local charities & organisations and have many testimonials that back this up. - We are also very proud to have MORE local listings than Google in the app and they are far more accurate and up-to-date. In fact we often challenge users to do a side-by-side test to openly demonstrate this. Obviously we're not trying to compete with Google, nor are we trying to. We simply mention it to correct the lie written by 'unhappy-with-pocketmags', and to highlight just one of the many brilliant features, our team have worked very hard on, in the app. - 'unhappy-with-pocketmags' also smears us regarding data collection. As mentioned, we have no access to users data other than an email address for managing trolls. We never sell users login information on to anyone. We are obliged to be fully compliant with GDPR regulations, and login details remain private and secure. This means we have no idea what you have for breakfast, what the name of your cat or dog is, where you go on holiday, or when your birthday is. In fact, we have so little data on our community of users, we don't even know who 'unhappy-with-pocketmags' is. If that doesn't convince you that we are not a 'data-grab' business, then nothing will. - A simple search shows we are the developers of our app. No idea why the reviewer has even chosen to highlight this - perhaps they thought we were pocketmags? We are proud of the SavviVille app, and very happy to answer anyone's concerns regarding any of the accusations written in this untruthful review. All we ask is that you judge the app for yourself. It's completely free, and there are no hidden charges within the app itself. We're not a huge global corporate (companies this reviewer should really be getting in touch with about 'data grabs' if that's what they're genuinely worried about). We are a local Streatham business working very hard for our community during very tough times. Hopefully you'll find lots of practical, local resources and useful information in the app (most of it only two or three clicks away), and it is updated daily. If you don't like it, simply delete it.
Just what I needed

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a positive review JPtwentyeight. We really appreciate it, and it makes all the hard work we have put into it over the past year worth it (despite all the Covid problems we're all having to deal with).
Great App with lots of info

We've put a lot of work into creating something valuable for the Streatham community, and look forward to building on it (particularly once the Covid issues have receded) to help keep our community strong and vibrant for users like you.

Hi AndiP, thank you so much for the positive review, and we're so glad you found it useful. We plan to build on the app and make it an even more valuable free resource for the local Streatham community - reviews like yours help inform others that we're out there. By using the SavviVille app you are also supporting local charities and community organisations, as well as a small local business (us). Thank you.
