This does not work. It will give you a suggestion as to the name of your Hosta, but changes with every tilt of the camera. And when it does settle on a type, it does not look like the actual leaf your photographing. Fan of hostasfan of hostas
To Bad It Doesn’t Work
The app is too dependent on light and angle and many hostess will appear slightly different in different growing conditions. It just doesn’t work. On the same plant, it can identify it as different hostas depending on where you focus (single leaf vs whole plant,) or even what part of the plant you look at. It failed on the overwhelming majority of varieties I tried and I have dozens. It failed on Striptease, Guacamole, Stained Glass, Sagae, Lakeside Paisley Print, Blue Angel, Paul’s Glory and many more. It did, however, work on Brother Stefan and Earth Angel.Show lessMe#524
Worthless
I have a few mystery hostas I was hoping to identify. This is NOT the app for that. It doesn’t correctly identify plants I know, and most of the time I get a different answer every time I try. A magic 8 ball would be just as accurate.Manders416
A dud
Really excited for hosta app, but I agree not there yet. All the hosta I looked at had choices that were incorrect. Fire island is on app but didn’t come up at all when I pointed camera at it. 😢plantbrain

Works great, iPhone needs to be in light mode in settings in order to read the name at the bottom of the Hosta.Ryetyn
Needs work
Not enough varieties loaded. Took a pic of my hosts as instructed. It did find a similar “match” from the library but no way to click on the match to see what it’s called. Great idea, poorly executed. Needs work.thecritical1
