  • Misleading

Requires subscription to do a scan. Useless without scan, just a bunch of advertisements.
At least give a few scans so users can see if product worth the price, and determine difficulty of scan process.
  • Not accurate…

Agree with other reviewer. This application is inaccurate and shouldn’t be used to track progress. I was able to get a variation of 42% just by changing the lightening.
  • Unusable due to inaccuracies

Did 3 scans on day one, which showed 24%, 46%, and 32%. This app has one purpose… to precisely measure body fat % to track. Even if the info isn’t 100% accurate, it should be repeatable and precise so I can at least see the change even if the absolute numbers are off a bit.

Immediately cancelled subscription. Regretted this purchase immediately.
  • Doesn’t work

Highly inaccurate in calculating body fat. I’m a bit surprised the Mayo Clinic puts their name behind this. I was skeptical before I downloaded it — how can you analyze body fat from photos alone?

The first time I used the app, it registered my body fat level at 20%. I had my personal trainer measure my body fat the same day and his machine calculated my body fat level at 16%. After a lot of work in the gym, my body fat is down to 11% but the app not says it’s 22%. Perhaps the app doesn’t work for muscular people?
  • Bad. Not worth your money

This app is not accurate and the setup for the body scanner is weird and inconvenient. BMI isn’t always reliable but I’d rather go with something familiar than continue struggling with this app

    Developer Response

Hi Ryan, really sorry you've had trouble with the app. Our team of UI designers found that the current scanning process was the most effective and the simplest way of capturing your results, but we always welcome any feedback we can use to improve the experience. We do find that watching the user videos can really help with your experience of the app - these can be found in the app menu. Sometimes users compare results to bio-impedance to gauge accuracy, leading to a difference in results, which is what you may have experienced. We can assure you that BVI will give you the correct accurate result. Our extensive clinical research and validation has proven that BVI will provide a significantly more reliable and accurate result than bio-impedance. BVI accuracy has been validated by numerous external sources against gold standard scanning such as DEXA and MRI, so if you would like to see our validation evidence please email info@select-research.com and we would be happy to share this with you.
