Additional fixes for video playback issues.

2.0.3

June 10, 2021

Hey there! Quick bug fix for video playback. Thank you to everyone who has submitted feedback! I'm working on a new update that will address the most common issues with the app, including the Widget, and some new changes including a UI update, improved handling of data, and something to fill up all that empty space in the Home tab :) As always, thank you for using XLaunch! - Travis

This update fixes the issue of News articles not loading in the News feed. This was due to an update to the data source I use, and the older version is no longer supported. The new version is now fully supported in the app, and adds some new News sources as well. This was an oversight on my end, so apologies for the inconvenience! In other news, I am coming off a hiatus from working on XLaunch and I'm excited to fix some major bugs (*cough* Widgets *cough*) and bring some new features soon. I'm working on some design updates that will bring more SpaceX information and statistics to the app, and prepare for some future planned updates. As always, thank you for using XLaunch and stay tuned! – Travis

XLaunch 2.0 is here!  # New Features - Notifications - All-new design - iOS 14 Widgets - Custom tint color # Release Notes This update includes Notifications and a complete re-design of the entire app. Notifications were by far the most requested feature, and I'm happy to finally bring them to XLaunch! This feature is a work in progress, and I plan to improve it and make it customizable in the future. This update also includes Widgets for iOS 14, although it is limited to just one widget for now. Don't worry – I have LOTS of plans for widgets, and will be releasing more designs, variants, and customization options soon. This update took me a little longer than I expected while I rebuilt the entire app from the ground up, making tons of under-the-hood changes and future-proofing along the way. Due to this, you may notice your saved launches have reset. This was unavoidable unfortunately due to switching how the app is written, but you can easily re-save those launches. Lastly, due to time constraints, some features have been pushed back while others have been temporarily removed, including weather data and saving news articles. Please note that these changes are NOT permanent, and I plan to get these features back ASAP while I work on improving them :) Thank you for using XLaunch, and stay tuned for more exciting things! – Travis

1.3.2

Hey there! So it seems that the weather data introduced in update 1.3 was causing quite a bit of issues, including crashing the app. Not cool! I've switched to a different source for weather data that is much better, so those issues should be resolved now. Sorry about that! Please continue sending any bugs you find my way and I'll squash 'em as soon as I can. - Travis # What's New - Switched to a new weather data source for improved stability & features - New weather includes rain, humidity, and cloud cover data - Refreshed weather customization options - can now choose individual data points to display - All weather data now supports metric or imperial units. Turning 'Use metric' on in Weather Display preferences will switch data to metric - Added support for DD/MM/YYYY date format. Turning 'Use 24 hour time' on will show dates in DD/MM/YYYY format rather than MM/DD/YYYY - Can now see the mission patch when viewing a completed launch, and can tap to view it full screen - Improved alert for when a livestream is available, but not yet live (no more pop-up!) # Bug Fixes - Fixed multiple issues that could cause the app to crash when trying to get the weather forecast - Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when trying to add invitees or editing the location to a calendar event - Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when network connection is slow or unavailable

- Fixed an issue that was causing weather to not be displayed - Fixed an issue that could cause the Launches and News screens to be blank, usually after leaving the app and then coming back - Fixed an issue that could cause layout issues in the Launch cells before scrolling - On iPhone, recent launches now load only the 10 most recent launches in order to improve loading time. You can still search for any launch or view all launches by selecting All. It seems that some are having an issue with changing the app icon. I'm working on a fix but it's not clear yet what's causing it. If you're having this issue, please submit a support request (via Settings) as it will now automatically include basic, non-personal information about your device that could help the debugging process. Thank you for being patient! - Travis

XLaunch 1.3 is finally here! I've been super excited about this update, and with it comes a ton of really cool improvements, most of which came from all the amazing feedback I've received. A HUGE thank you to everyone that's downloaded the app and submitted feedback so far! By far the most requested feature has been Notifications. This is something I really want to add to XLaunch, and I'm planning on doing it as soon as I can. It's proven to be a little more difficult than I expected for a new developer like myself, but I'm actively looking into how I can make it great. Read on to see all the cool stuff in this update! # XLaunch for iPad - Completely new layout that takes advantage of the larger screen size - Split-view design lets you expand & collapse content, and browse around without leaving the current screen - Full picture-in-picture support, so you can keep watching the launch while browsing News, or while in a completely different app # Add to Calendar - Add upcoming launches to the Calendar app and set alerts if you'd like # New app icons - Pride, Pride Light, and Pride Dark - Happy Pride Month! # New Home and Launch screen designs - See the weather forecast for the next launch on the Home screen. This can be customized to show temperature, wind, conditions, or an icon. - Searching for a launch is way better, no need to select a certain filter first - Switching between All, Recent, and Upcoming launches using the new control is instantaneous and buttery-smooth # Preferences - Choose which launches and news articles load by default in the Launches and News screens - Support for 12 or 24 hour time format - Automatic and manual time zone. Time zone will default to your current local time zone, but now you can set the time zone to anywhere you want. - Support for Fahrenheit or Celsius temperature for weather forecast # Other Improvements: - Added pull to refresh/reload on Home, Launches, and News screens - Added What's New splash screen for new updates - Added Welcome splash screen for first-time users - Added What's New section in Settings to view update release notes - Added loading indicators for photos - Can now see time of launch when viewing a single launch - Flight number labels are now always 3 digits (#099, #100, etc.) - Improved design and performance of all Settings screens - Fixed an issue that could cause the app the crash when loading content - Fixed an issue that could cause countdown timers to jump/skip around when scrolling - Lots of other little performance & data usage improvements Whew! If you're still with me, read on for some updates about the future of XLaunch. In the name of transparency, I am planning some premium/paid features that will make browsing launches & watching livestreams even better. Don't worry - all current features will remain free, only some new features and content will be paid. These features will likely require some backend support, i.e. me paying to rent a server and some other infrastructure. I would love to keep XLaunch totally free, but I also want to make it the best it can be and be able to support it for as long as I can. You can expect more information on this in the next update. Until then, enjoy and please let me know about any issues you run across! - Travis

Quick bug fix! This update fixes a bug that could cause the screen to dismiss itself when viewing the next upcoming launch before it is actually live. It also further clarifies when a livestream is actually live. I'm still working on some great improvements that will be coming to XLaunch soon, so stay tuned! :) - Travis

  • Need to get back to the basics

I enjoy what i do I can figure out but the news just spins and never showed anything and the live video or feedback never works faint watch live or go back and watch launches? That the reason I even got the app.
  • ???

The entire reason I downloaded this app was to not miss a launch from Vandenberg. I literally have missed every single one. Where’s the option to have 24 hour warning push notifications sent to phone over specific launch sites??
  • Developer OK??

I checked to see if the developer had posted on Twitter. Nothing since Nov 22. I hope he’s OK. Even his GitHub shows no activity since November.

UPDATE: I see from his Twitter profile that he liked a post on 2/7/23. So he’s alive (maybe).
