Description of Masimo SafetyNet

Masimo SafetyNet does not provide medical or healthcare diagnoses, advice, or services, and is not a substitute for medical care. Masimo SafetyNet is a secure cloud-based platform that allows providers to remotely manage patients using customized interactive digital CarePrograms. CarePrograms offer a digital replacement for traditional home-care plans and are delivered to patients’ smartphones. The CareProgram actively reminds patients to follow their care plan, automatically captures monitoring data from the tetherless Radius PPG sensor, and securely pushes the data to clinicians at the hospital for evaluation. Radius PPG sensors, powered by Masimo SET® measure-through-motion technology, provide continuous respiration rate and oxygen saturation monitoring via a tetherless, single-patient-use sensor. Masimo SafetyNet integrates with Apple Health allowing users to share measurements collected from connected devices.

  • Confidence & well-being

Provides real time data from a trusted source and it’s in the palm of my hand. Truly a stroke of innovation for monitoring my loved ones
  • Worn during COVID

Wore this when I had COVID and was able to see my oxygen levels. Also my parents used this during their COVID experience and not only was their doctor able to see their oxygen levels but so was I. Even when I wasn’t able to check on them, at least I see how they were doing.
  • Frustrating to utilize

This app such a big Nope from me. Program I’m in decided to switch to this app to monitor diabetes. Old app and Glucose monitor’s apps save the data automatically, even if I haven’t open the app recently. Perfect.

This one not only requires that I have the app open, but I have to sign in as well and if I’m not signed in BEFORE turning on my glucose monitor, it never records the glucose reading. Okay, fine. I’ll enter it manually. Great. It only allows 1 time per day to save a manually entered glucose reading. Which is useless for a diabetic. Nice.

My least favorite part though is the battery life on my phone. This app is RAVENOUS for power and destroys my phone so quickly IN THE BACKGROUND. Not even on the dang screen! So, if I keep myself logged in like I’m supposed to, even just in the background like any other normal app, this app will single handedly eat my battery.

Today I had this app on screen 2min and 3hr 48min in the background. This is so trivial of a timespan that it shouldn’t even take 1% of my battery, especially given its almost entirely open in the background. Another app that uses my GPS location to record driving activities without ~any~ need to open the app or have it in the background, use such a negligible amount that Apple just has a — for less than 1%.

This BEAST used 6%. In the background.

For another comparison, FB usage was 3hr 35mins on screen, used 5%.

This is unacceptable. Draining my battery while doing nothing in the background is absurd these days. Requiring I log in and open the app to record my data is also unacceptable. Unless the App Devs are going to pay to replace my battery and charging equipment, I will never accept or suggest anyone use this app as its destroying my phone much more rapidly than any other thing I do on it. Nightmare of an app.
