Not getting the pass code to set up, my cell is Canadian number

Been trying it on and off for a few days now, but can’t get passed the setup screen. It asks for phone number to send a verification code, but I never receive it (Canadian number).
Registration from US works as expected!
I registered from US and it worked as expected. Text to register came to my US phone number In seconds then entered my blue national card details voila, I am in.
