I'm reviewing the service, not necessarily the app. Love the service! I've audibly laughed at a few of the scammers that have taken the bait. I enjoy listening to them waste their time over and over. Lovely.

Each call is emailed to you for review and either whitelist or blacklist the # for future calls. Or you can let jollyroger handle it all they do a good job identifying scammer and robocallers. You can even institute a 'press 1' option for a human to leave you a message.

When AI became available, jollyroger quickly adopted it. The recordings play off of the questions and sales of the callers! The longer they talk, the more of a back and forth conversation the AI bot makes it. A little over 8 minutes is my longest on the hook. Really wastes their time.

The best part is once you've blacklisted them one ring is all you'll ever hear. All for one dollar a month! Everyone should have it...
  • Buggy

This rating is for the APP, not the service as a whole. The app is buggy and not super functional, except that you can easily import you entire contact list to the whitelist. This is probably the best use for the app.

Unfortunately the voicemail feature doesn’t seem to be working so I’m stuck with the default Jolly Roger voicemail greeting.

As for the service, I think it’s really useful and I can see some of my calls have dropped off, or at least I get some satisfaction knowing the scammers are being thwarted.

I’d definitely recommend setting up the service on the website.
  • Works pretty well

It does what it claims. I can access all the recordings and black/whitelist right in the app.
The addition to imprt your contacts to auto-whitelist is fantastic, but it should use that info to populate names on the VM homepage when it finds phone number matches against the contact import. Should probably show the contact photo when available as well. Have your Product Owner call me. I'd love to help.
  • Great for me, terrible for telemarketers!

I can’t tell you how much the JRT has done for me! I’d get 3-6 telemarketing calls a day, which would be more than annoying. Now, the only calls I get are the ones that I’ve white listed (the ones in my contacts or that I’ve added manually). Perfect!

I do appreciate the added ability to turn on/off the service when needed (such as waiting for an important call, but not knowing their number). Makes it so much easier!

It is a odd that the current app version is shown to be 14.7.4 and my installed version is 14.7.8
  • Completely worthless app.

The service is great but the app is entirely pointless. Doesn’t even have the options for notifications which is like the most baseline feature I could expect. So after every missed call I have to manually check to see if I have a voicemail or not. So then, what’s even the point of having the app?? I can just as easily check the website in my phone’s browser and I actually get more info and options that way. MOST LAME VOICEMAIL APP OF ALL TIME. Very disappointing.
  • Buggy app!

I payed for the subscription and installed this app thinking it would be really fun to listen to the recordings. I went thru the test call and it was successful. But when I tried to listen to the test recording, it just wouldn’t play within the app. I had to export the recording before I could play it…which would is super annoying!! Its disappointing to have such a major bug. Please help fix this asap.
P.S. I am running the latest iOS 15.5 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
  • Horrible Execution

I saw this company on Shark Tank and wanted to love it, but the concept execution is absolutely awful. Both this app and the website are clunky, difficult to navigate, and reminds me of early dialup internet where everyone had a homepage that was “under construction”. I’m honestly impressed that anyone is still featuring the company with this mediocre execution, and can only assume it’s for the novelty.

I’ve yet to get a call (other than the test option which was also poorly explained) so I can’t speak to full functionality, but I also can’t listen to the recording on the app. It just doesn’t work. The website is no help either; I can’t even find a list of calls.

I’ll give it a shot for another week or two before I pull the plug, but in the meantime I implore the developers to gather a group of young tech experts to help them truly get in the game.
  • 419 eater here

Delicious suffering with a side of profanity

    Good times
  • Couldn’t get past the poorly designed username screen

What a let down. Saw the ted talk and was impressed. The first log in screen is horribly designed and non functional...
  • No Whitelist/Blacklist feature

Without the ability to whitelist or blacklist callers (a feature available on the website), this app is only marginally useful. Listening to the recordings (this apps only feature) is only fun for a while, but eventually gets old. But blocking callers that get through the spam filters is what I need access to on a daily basis. Please update to add this ability!
