This app *is* still alive! This version improves the experience of loading images that aren't on your machine already. This should make selecting your images to optimize faster and less error-prone.

This update fixes an issue where you were unable to take advantage of the iOS 14 limited photo library, by showing the intro page until you agreed to share your full photo library. Now, any (or no) photo access allows you to bypass the intro page.

Support for the new "limited photo library" feature of iOS 14; if you choose to limit Debigulator's access to photos, you can still select a photo manually by tapping the + button from the library screen. I'll work on improving this UI soon, but wanted to get out something sooner in case you wanted to take advantage of the latest privacy features. Oh, also Shortcuts support, in case you want to automate your image-shrinking activities.

So, it turns out people actually used this app. That was unexpected. And it turned out that it wasn't actually as straightforward as I imagined it to be. That was slightly more expected. So I just kinda… redid everything. Have fun? New features include: - Bigger images in the image selection screen - Fixed a crash that could occur if you picked an older image stored in iCloud - Displays the amount by which the image was shrunk in the preview view - One-tap access to saving a new copy of the shrunken image - Press-and-hold to compare between the high-res and compressed version of the images

Description of Debigulator

Debigulator makes your photos lower-quality. … Wait, that's a bad sales pitch. Debigulator shrinks and compresses your images to make sending images over the Internet significantly faster. My parents live in the absolute middle of nowhere and I made this app because I got sick of hearing "it's still downloading" when I sent them photos of my cats. If you're sick of hearing that, too, download this app. It even works directly in the Messages app to make sending compressed images a one-tap experience.

  • Great Messages integration

This app is great! It hasn’t harmed me in any sort of way!
  • Great app!

I used to use another app that minimized the photos to send in iMessage, but Debigulator is much faster to load the photos from the messages app! It's instantaneous! While the others took around 5 seconds to show them...
    That alone made me change...
Add to that the simplicity in doing this in the background without having to pick any options...

One thing I wish would be added, and it's the ability to see albums, now this would be the answer to my remaining prayers!
And since the app is free, maybe the albums thing could be an IAP? Cos I'd really love it if I can pay the genius behind the app!

  • Excellent

It’s a simple app. But that’s the beauty of it. It only does one thing and does it well. I had a question for the developer and he was very responsive!
