No latex support in the app version.
On the site, latex works fine but it is not supported in the app. So messages appear differently based on where you view them. This makes communicating math stuff very difficult.

Thank you for your feedback! You're definitely right about the LaTeX support for mobile. We'll look into adding that soon!
