  • A haven for cheaters

The same player wins the Daily Challenge, always. I noticed this particular player when she started because of her name ~ and believe me, she wasn’t that good. Then all of a sudden, she became the top player, every day for months now. It’s discouraging, and makes me not want to play. There’s no point, when the only way you stand a chance, is if the cheater decides to take a day off, and good luck with that.
  • My new favorite game!

I’ve always loved the game Boggle. I’ve played other word games, but I hadn’t found a great one, until now. I love that you can change the time limit for the game, too. Great game—so good for the mind, and just a break from the news and all things unpleasant. I highly recommend this game!
  • Good game!

I really enjoyed this, it’s very boggle-like and has many neat features.
  • Word game lovers will LOVE this app!

This is the classic boggle type game. No annoying pop-ups, no cheesy prizes or rewards to earn, and SO engaging and fun! I love all the options to compete for your own best score, compete against others, or just play with various timers without competition.
The daily challenge is the BEST! Please keep this app updated…if I needed to pay a download fee I would!
  • Uses your brain!

Great game that helps you use your brain.
  • Great!

I really enjoy this game. It’s the classic boggle game that I grew up playing and there are NO annoying pop up ads in between rounds. I would gladly pay a download fee for this since I use it so often. My kids, 7 and 8 and future word nerds like their parents, also find it engaging.
  • Doesn’t recognize common words

I’ve come across several common words that the game doesn’t recognize like lien or page... Also, it repeats the same boards too frequently. There are better apps out there.

    Developer Response

Hey, thank you for giving Wordbox a go! "lien" and "page" are both recognised words, so I'm not sure why you were having trouble entering them. Wordbox is fully compliant with the official US Scrabble word dictionary, so all words that are available there should be available in Wordbox. As an example, "page" can be found on the (4x4) board from seed: 6655 7542 and "lien" can be found on this board (also 4x4): 9710 1471. The only setting that can make entering a word impossible is the minimum word length, which will disregard all words beneath a given length. This should be set to 3 by default, so it shouldn't be a problem unless you changed it. Also keep in mind that there are 3 main things that will tell you if a word you just entered is recognised. After releasing the screen with your finger... 1. The letters will flash green for a moment with some sparkles. 2. Its points will be added to your total. 3. The word will show up in your found words list in the score menu afterwards. Make sure that these did not happen after entering your words. Wordbox will sometimes give you the same board again, yes. This is to give you the option to improve your score on a board in ranked mode without giving you the ability to pick a board directly, which could be easily exploited for high-scores. Keep in mind that in normal local mode you are able to enter whatever seed you'd like, so trying a board that no-one has ever tried before is as simple as entering a random seed there. However I can see having a "fully random seed" option in normal local play being a good addition as well. Thank you for the suggestion! Hope that clears things up, and I hope you give the game another chance! Regards, Glenn
  • Better than some, still need improvement

Better than wordstacks, or the games where a set number of letters are given in a circle and 99% of the words found are “bonus.” This game offers three levels of finding words, 4 letters across/down, 5 letters or six. This game also offers different time limits to find words, and assigns scores similar to scrabble. It’s problematic in that sometimes there are many more consonants than vowels, and it can be very difficult trying to find words. It’s also odd that whenever a word *is* found, the game makes a ‘banging’ noise. There was a recent update where “5000 new words” were added. ‘Hue’ is a word, but this game doesn’t recognize it.

Hey, glad you're enjoying the game! To answer a few of your questions: 1. The dice in Wordbox uses a letter distribution that will roughly imitate the frequency of letters in the english language, including the consonant to vowel ratio. This will greatly increases the likelihood of more words being available on the board. However since the dice rotations themselves are ultimately random, sometimes you might end up with a board that has more consonants than normal. This level of randomness is there on purpose, and ensures a vide variety of different boards. I personally very much enjoy hunting for words on more difficult boards, however if the board is not to your liking I've ensured there are no penalties for starting a new game with a different board. 2. All audio can be disabled in the Options menu (cog wheel in top right when first entering the app). This sound effect simply confirms that a word has been found. That being said, I'll see if I can't make this particular sound a bit softer in a later update. 3. Hmm that is odd, from what I can see 'hue' is indeed recognised. As an example, if you start a new local 4x4 game with seed 0121 5273 it should be possible to spell out 'hue' at the bottom of the board. Also make sure that the 'Minimum word length' in the new game menu is not set to anything higher than 3, as this option will remove all words that are below this length from the dictionary. • settings and account are imperfect

classic boggle that would be improved if there was a way to save your preferred game settings.

    log in is super buggy
  • Classic boggle without fluff, but lacks intuitive design

The icons and buttons aren’t intuitive. The design doesn’t fill the whole screen, some of it is very small text. When in the game, it’s hard to track what letters your finger is swiping on.

Thank you for your concerns. We always take user feedback very seriously when deciding how to approach future updates. For now I can suggest you enable the 'Show text while writing' option in the settings to make it easier to see what you've just typed, and to stay updated to pick up any future improvements, features and bugfixes that might improve your experience! - G
