Very Good Base

This game is amazing with very good mechanics. The only thing is that the UI is a little weird with turns going by country’s will change from wary to friendly to allied. I don’t know if this I a feature but other than that it’s really good. Hopefully y’all keep working on it, it has so much potential!

It’s a great balance

It’s not to complicated and it’s not to simple. It takes a little bit of learning but you pick it up pretty quickly. Great in depth tutorials as well. Great game!

Hi, Thanks for your review and I am glad you like my game. I am now working on a world colonial conquest game, it should be out later this new year. I hope you will like it too. JohnG

Great game

The pricing system is on point, you can actually play this game enjoyably without having to pay any money. In terms of actually playability, I think this might be one of the best games on the App Store, even better than easytech. The game’s unique diplomacy system makes it possible for the player to play both historically, or creatively by making peace with traditional enemies. But most of all I like the military system. Other games for the most part only allow each unit to contain one type of troop, so you’d get entire armies of only artillery or only tanks, making it unrealistic. So I thought this game made a huge improvement on that. It could use some more maps but I look forward to downloading the “Colonies of War” game that I heard was in development. Hopefully it includes a lot of the Asian nations like China, Korea and Japan that aren’t covered in many video games covering the era of imperialism.

Hi Chiang Kai Shek, Thanks for your positive review. Colonies at War will China and Japan and 20 others, it will be modelled from FIW and WIE. I am including the American Civil war, Taiping rebellion, and the colonization of Africa so they are all happening at once. 1850-1900, turbulent times. JohnG

Has some problems that don’t distract to much

So I was playing a game of discover the new world as England when all of a sudden France of all nations wants to be my ally! Now I know what your thinking but England and France are allies while this is true today back then they were the biggest enemies like communism vs. democracy which btw you should make a game about. Anyways I found this to be a bit odd by ignored it and continued playing as it is a great game. Overall I give it a 4.9 out of 5 really good.

Who created this?

My first impression of this game is that its creator is uneducated and therefore the game is substandard. There are a few spelling and grammatical errors which make me question how competent the developer is and how serious they were in putting the game together. Strike one. I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt as I like the concept but I am wary that I will be let down. My advice is to have someone go through the text and edit it. If you’re going to do something, make it as quality as you can.

Best Game Ever

I love this game so much. It is simple to learn yet hard to master and has so many good mechanics. Normally i hate stuff like the crowns cause it is so unbalanced and pricey. But with being able to watch a video for a hundred crowns and the only thing the crowns being used for is the professional armies in Europe for a reasonable price is perfect.

My only complaint is that there is not nearly enough content here. Within the first 3 days of getting this game I am already completing most of the campaigns. And am starting to work on the other side to get through them. I would loovvvee to either see a European theater companion app or expansion in this one. Also you could extend this to the American revolution and beyond. But you do whatever you think is best needed and fitting for this game. Because you obviously have a great mind for this stuff.

Anyways thank you for the amazing game. I hope to see something else soon

HI Kaiser Sauer Kraut, Thanks for your review, I am glad you like my game. Sorry about the crowns costs. I will eventually make the revolution but I am thinking it will be as a different game, not sure yet. At the moment I starting 'Colonies at War' which will be a world war based in the 1850-1900. I hope you will like it as much as this game when it's out. JohnG

Bugged?

I seem to be up against Indian tribes that have levies of 1000 after I’ve wiped out the remaining army. I even attacked a tribe with 5000 militia and 100 artillery and still no win. Is my game broken or something? I never win a game because the Indians never seem to lose the battles in tribe (village) areas.

Response from developer

Hi HenryHazzas, Thanks for the review. I cannot comment on that particular battle because I don't have the full details. I can give you some advice, when attacking a tribe or town always scout as there can be other forces you cannot see. Any populated location can have any of the following, garrison, local militia or recruits, and armies. Scout before you attack, and I always attack when I have the numbers on my side. Towns do give a defence bonus to the garrisons. Sorry, but there is a bit to consider when you are new to this game. I hope this helps. JohnG

One of the best games

This is really great app for me and historical fans it’s a really awesome game that you can tell that the creators put a lot of time in to the game to make it really good and run really good and I just hope they make another game like it because it is like a masterpiece of historical games and they do really good at making historical games I really recommend this game

Amazing game

Dear Mr Gregory I love both of your amazing games and cannot begin to think how long I have spent on each and I greatly appreciate all the work you have put in. But today I am writing a review over a question as whenever I play English in either French and Indian War scenario it always starts in the middle of turn 1 with me getting attacked with no time to plan and build troops and infrastructure. I am not sure if it is a glitch or a new mechanic as I don’t remember it happening several months ago. Hopefully this gets fixed and I wish you luck in your creation of more games I can’t even begin to imagine what’s next, maybe even a colonize Africa game or something of that sort. Best wishes James.

Response from developer

Hi James, Thanks for your review. In the French Indian War campaign I decided that because the French started the invasion that they have the first turn regardless of which nation the human player controls. I felt the the French were inferior in all areas and the only advantage they had was surprise attack. I hope this answers your question. JohnG

Great strategy game

Hello first let me thank you for making a very very good strategy game. I still need to hone my skills but everything is solid. It’s a little complicated to figure things out at first but I think this game could greatly benefit from having a option to speed up the A.Is turn or to even completely skip it. I love turn based strategy but I hate siting through the AIs turn. Keep it up this game is probably the best or one of the best hand held strategy games available
