Pure Bliss

Easily one of the most intuitive, functional and usable drum machines on the App Store.

Flawed MIDI. No user samples.

Flawed MIDI. No matter what, it won’t work with certain apps which work perfectly fine with other apps. It won’t send or receive MIDI from DM1 - exactly the same as the other app by the same developer, the DM2. The MIDI page is actually identical, it even says “DM2” instead of “Drum Lab” in it. Can’t load your own samples??? What???

The envelopes don’t re-trigger, if you put two hits of a drum that has long attack one next to the other, only the first one has long attack, the second one has zero attack.

When selecting custom sounds for a kit one can’t preview when choosing it from other kits, you have to leave the selection page to do so.

Excellent App, few requests

This is an incredible drum synth and drum machine. It has everything you’d want except auv3. However, the sounds and the creative features alone are worth hours in this app. It has all the vintage sounds neatly packed too.

I’m having two issues on an iPad Pro 2, sometimes the drum synth will crash and require me to reload the sound. Also an overwrite feature would be great. I’ve learned in this app it’s good to keep saving… however,it’s not ideal having 10 versions of the same file slightly different; I’d prefer to overwrite.

Hope this helps. Having a ton of fun leaning my way around. Thank you!

Easier and faster than Drum Machine

Hello Apple. Are you going to post my review or what? I love Drum Machine but DrumLab is more intuitive and faster to compose with and has more FX. The sounds are clean and crisp. The controls are easy to use. Good context sensitive help. Initially I was disappointed it is IAA instead of AUv3 but their explanation makes sense. The “Song Ambient Noise” is an amazing example of what DrumLab can do (sounds like the sound track FX from the movie ‘The Forbidden Planet’)! I foresee a long relationship starting with this amazing drum machine. A no brainer purchase, especially for the asking price.

Good but buggy

Whilst I like this drum machine, it has been a bit flaky so far. Whilst editing my pattern it started glitching, with the audio becoming very stutters...and then it kind of fizzled out to silence. If I stopped playback and restarted it was ok again, but it happened repeatedly so I’m not not sure what’s happening here. Am on an iPad Air 2. Maybe it’s not powerful enough? I had nothing else running. For reference I can happily use Sugarbytes Drum Computer in AUM with eventide effects etc without any issues.

My review.

In the unlikely event that my review will be accepted as such, I would like to congratulate the developer on an exceptional achievement. This app is excellent. I would love to see the option of importing your own samples or sampling as an fx unit but hey, it’s an expressive sound creation tool as is. My only wish is that is it continuously updated and kept alive as it were.

Thanks for the great review. Most appreciated.

Great drummachine!

Love how deep this app lets you customize every aspect of each sound and automate it. Getting really nice punchy and satifying sounds really fast with this one. I also own DrumComputer by SugarBytes which is amazing too, but if that one is too expensive for you, try this app because you can achieve a whole lot woth this. Only too bad it is not AUv3.

Thanks for the great review. We would love to make it an AUv3 unfortunately Drumlab uses a code library (LibPd) that offers great sonic possibilities but is not compatible with AUv3 for now. Best regards.

Good

All good here, and sounds good too, does everything it says on the tin.
Would like Au3 support though. And per step probability in the sequencer, and a loop mode in the sequencer too I.e press two steps and the sequencer loops between them.

Stellar

An absolute Killer iOS drum machine: great library of classic samples and a very capable drum synth with sequencing, automation and generally effortless UI navigation. The more I use it the more I love it and it was already love at first session.

Unsupported

How bout putting in your app description that it ONLY supports 64bit devices!!!!
I just bought your app and even though I'm on iOS 10, I cannot use it.
And CANT seem to request a refund!!!!
Thanks for the nice splash screen.
I shouldn't have even been able to download this.
Thanks dude.

Response from developer

Sorry for the trouble. I am surprised you cannot ask for a refund. As far as I know, Apple allows to ask for a refund for any app the weeks following the purchase. Maybe you can directly contact them. Best regards.
