Response from developer

The evaporator fan motor in a refrigerator or freezer is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the unit. During the defrost cycle, the evaporator fan motor is typically shut down to allow the defrosting process to occur. This prevents the cold air from being circulated and helps to melt any ice or frost that has accumulated on the evaporator coils. Once the defrost cycle is terminated, the evaporator fan motor will resume its normal operation and continue circulating the cold air.
