Description of Caption'd

Caption'd is an app to help people hard of hearing with every day conversations. In a world, and faces, that are covered by masks, lip-reading has become harder. Caption'd is here to help with that. Caption'd makes any real-world conversation into a closed caption one for those who are hard of hearing. All captioning is done securely on device and the conversation is never saved or transmitted elsewhere. Features: • Closed Captioning for conversations • Multi-Language Support • Built-in text to speech to speak for you

Reviews of Caption'd

  • Doesn’t Work

(Please see the developer’s fair response to my review.)

I had hoped to suggest this app to several in our congregation who are hard of hearing, so they could follow along with our pastor.

    No go.

The app barely recognizes that anything is being spoken. Perhaps one word out of 25 is shown on screen.

Just now, thinking of using the app with a deaf seatmate on a plane, the app failed to pick up the flight attendant on the speaker not two feet from my head.

    Developer Response

Hello, thanks for your feedback. Caption’d, and any audio capture from another speaker, is very difficult to do. Caption’d was designed for real world conversation with a person in front of you — hence the camera view. Please consider using Caption’d for conversations that do not go through a speaker but are rather directly spoken person to person
  • No Speech to Text

It does go from text to speech but not speech to text.
