  • Can’t even fill in the log in information!

The latest update is ridiculous. I can’t even fill in my login email and password. Please fix this ASAP!
  • Amazing

I really love this app, I look forward to reading it every day. Makes me feel better and I learn things about myself in a “fun” manner.
I really like the little things on the app such as
    - the amount of minutes it’ll take to read or watch per article/vid
    - the flip pictures are a nice touch
    - the cards with questions to flip through

I can’t recommend this app enough. I have told my friends and coworkers about it. You guys are great looking forward to more 🥰

  • Love the app, really like the people too.

I have recently found The School of Life. It’s based on delivering a lot of really helpful content around mental health, wellbeing, mindfulness, philosophy, relationships and more (there’s a lot I haven’t looked at yet).
Not all the content is brand new - no ideas ever really are - but the style and delivery are refreshingly calm, level-headed, watchable and readable, and not at all cheesy or annoying, which is a really good pitch for anyone who might actually *need* this sort of helpful content. Americans, please think of it as your wise, kind and dependable British best friend.
I had a problem with my subscription - entirely my issue rather than theirs - and the customer service was helpful, appropriately pitched, and seemed to be delivered by people who understood (rather than reading from a script in a call centre) and cared that they resolved your problem. In other words, absolutely the best online customer service experience I’ve ever had.

If you need a wise friend who won’t mess you around, this may be the app for you.

  • Great features, not iPad friendly

I think the app is great and I love how you can track your progress. I thoroughly enjoy school of life’s content but I wish it was just as accessible on my iPad as it is on my iPhone.
  • Not great on iPad

The content is, of course, awesome.
Sadly it’s really annoying to use on an iPad.
Whilst it will run on iPads, it was clearly made for iPhones. On the larger screen all you get is a small window in the centre.
    Disappointing.
2 stars for the app (on iPad), 5++ for the content.
  • A fan turned paying customer

I’ve loved the school of life for years and years and years and love that it exists. It’s only recently through some personal struggles that I decided to go for the paid version and it’s been such a game changer. I wish I had known earlier that the programmes within the app could be so useful. I’ve nearly completed one of the modules and it’s changed my perception massively.

  • Tragically, ironically, there no calm if you have to deal with customer service

For an app that purports to help you on a journey of learning and self discovery, the only thing I learned is I should never have paid for a subscription, and that I dislike feeling powerless in the face of inept customer service. How’s that for self discovery?

This is one of the more expensive apps. Disappointingly, major faults in the website and app logins meant I couldn’t access my paid subscription, log into the web app, or reset my password. No problem, thought I, I’ll call. I phoned the numbers on the website for customer service - repeatedly over a five hour span during their business hours. No answer and no messaging service.

I sent screenshots of the issue to the help desk. They repeatedly failed to read my emails properly or look at the screenshots, insisting there was “nothing wrong at their end”. They literally gas lit me that nothing was wrong while I had screen shots showing them the error. I humoured them for a while despite absolutely seething, repeating the process on two computers and a phone, with the identical results. I eventually solved it myself - it is an issue with the safari browser - and managed to reset my password on a Firefox browser. They lamely promised to “escalate the issue” after no less than six emails. I’m not waiting around for more bluff and bluster.

The absurdity of the experience was driven home by the misleading blurbs on the website “we are devoted to bringing you calm… and more fulfillment in your leisure time”. I wasted hours of my leisure time and was nowhere near calm the end. Don’t be fooled that there is a functional customer service phone line just waiting to help (there’s not). The app itself is not richly featured despite the pretty packaging there are minimal videos and mainly written articles. Don’t be fooled by the appearance of the site or the fact that you can log in to a web browser. You can’t read the articles on a computer - only on the app.

I’m well rid of these charlatans. And very disappointed that a brand I really admired was so sketchy.

Hello, thank you for your feedback and we apologise you didn’t feel our customer support agent delivered the best service. Looking through your case we see there was some trouble resetting your password due to a bug on our website that our customer service agent could not duplicate. This was escalated to our webmaster who provided some troubleshooting solutions, this did not work so this was then escalated further to our tech team who are working on a fix for this. Of course, this was still an incredible inconvenience so our agent provided a full refund as compensation. As for the length of time it took for us to respond our customer service agent is based in London, I see you are based in Australia so I’m afraid it’s a case of conflicting time zones, we always aim to respond within 24-48 hours of our all enquires (except UK Bank Holidays) so we do apologise for the late response.
  • Would like more focus, more depth

    1. I don’t understand why app changes the homepage multiple times per day. Each page already contains too much information, so to see the articles constantly being swapped throughout the day is overwhelming and fatiguing. Keep it simple and let me have a few small things to ponder throughout the day. I think there is an article about minimalism in there :)
    2. I wish the content had a better mix of education and therapeutic content. It feels like 5% education and 95% therapy content. If we are going to bring up art history and philosophy, treat me like an adult and give me just a little bit more to chew on. For example, why not give me a tad more background on the painting I’m looking at besides just the name of the person who made it? Why is this painting significant historically/culturally? I have no idea! But the author just wants to say “it’s ok to feel sad” or something along those lines. Which is fine, but I don’t know how to think about the painting in its actual historical context.
    3. Are widgets coming?

Hello, allow me to explain; the homepage changes every 12 hours based on our learning algorithm which recommends content based on your onboarding questionnaire and your app usage - it learns what content to show you. We do this so users can be shown a variety of content each day, keeping things interesting. You can save these articles for future reference. Thank you for the feedback on the content, we'll feed this back to our content team - if you read the article "Eight Rules Of The School Of Life" this will give you a clearer understanding of our ethos. As for Widgets, this is on our development roadmap as part of a wider range of updates and improvements over the coming months. Thank you for your critique and support.

  • Impossible to login and team refuses to help

I paid the 25£ discounted annual membership; it does not work, impossible to get support or refund. Really not impressed, feels like a scam
